my lack of attention while drilling is my fault and mine only. i certainly know better, and am wondering if i may have went to deep while drilling my gas block dimples on my bcm barrel.
i know i should only have a slight dimple and nothing more. but just didnt catch it for some reason .
it is .750 and i went about 1/8 deep. ive read about the set screws deforming the bore and i dont plan on cranking the heck out of them either when installing.
but i need the opinion of those who know better than me.
am i risking or causing an issue for my self with deforming the bore or loss of potential mechanical accuracy of the rifle?

Dimpling is unnecessary to begin with. I think it's one of those because I can mods.

Those holes are deep at 0.125. Some quick math tells me you only have about 0.200 of an inch of barrel left. Unfortunately I'd call it a lesson and move on.

Can't help you with your current dilemma. FWIW a piece of nylon tubing around the drill bit makes a quick and inexpensive stop.
I did not trust myself to properly mark the dimples so I made a guide from a roll pin. I removed one screw and dimpled the other. Repeated the process for the other. Yea I understand the benefits of dimpling it is debatable but I fall on the side of more cow bell.
Abuse disclaimer. The Noveske GB was only used for a prop. It was not injured or altered

Typical convention(what I allow) is .1" minimum left over the chamber and .075" left over the barrel.

I typically dimple just deep enough that the full 5/32" drill bit begins cutting.
That works out to about 0.030" at the center of the hole.

On a 0.750" gas block and 0.224" bore, you have just over 0.250" barrel wall thickness.
1/8" deep is still ok, just don't torque the screw down more than maybe 20in-lbs.

Thank you for all the detailed information
Guys, much appreciated.
I'm going to do as mk18 said and lick my
Wounds and call it a lesson.
