Looking for opinions on this one-dried anyone fund it easier to shoot a true Commander size 1911 over a 5" Gov't model or do they find it to be the exact opposite?

I think a commander has quite a bit more flip than a gov't.

I also think a commander is a less than useless modification to the original design.

The only advantage I like in a Commander is when carrying OWB it has 3/4" less to hide.

I operate one-handed. The differences in recoil are easy for me to feel - magnified if you will. I feel the Gov't is softer to shoot than a Commander. That said I EDC a Commander.

I like the Commander better, as it balances in the hand easier, is slightly lighter, and slightly easier to conceal.

It does have more muzzle flip, however.

Impossible to say which one is "better" -- they are simply different.
