Back in November I started doing research and talking with buddies who had been trying to get me into the AR shooting fun. Well I started with just reading and research to learn as much as I could before I just started throwing out money. Then a buddy turned me onto this site, and an addiction has started. After a craze of oos parts and price gouging, I started to worry I may not ever build this dang thing. Slowly over the past 6 or 7months I gathered alot of info and reviews from this site. And with the assistance of the In-stock threads on forums and AR Part Finder.com I was able to aquire some parts, I was real picky on what parts I would pay premium for, All in all I got about $1200 into my build which I think I did really good.......

Seekins Precision Lower, trigger guard, enhanced bolt catch, and mag release
AeroPrecision stripped upper
upper parts and lower parts kits from Palmetto State Armory, CMMG Trigger
Fortis Rev Rail 14" Realistically 14.5"
UCWRG FDE grip
RCA BCG
Daniel Defense 16" chf cl hpt mpi midlength barrel
vltor gas block and tube
Magpul FDE STR stock and BUS
BCM Mod3 Large latch ch
Spikes ST-2 H2 buffer
currently running a A2 Flash Hider, which Ill be ordering Rainier Arms XTC comp soon.
Havent decided what to run for optics yet, but been eyeballing a few different ones.
Also a BAD selector in FDE and a set of FDE KNS ST antirotating pins will be added

The rifle is fully assembled and I have shot 10 rounds just to test fire! Anyways heres some pics everyone....I know I need some better ones, these are pretty much in sequence as to build...

Nice build. I think the Fortis rail looks good. What kind of fit did you have between the Aero upper and the Seekins lower?

Thank you, the seems are perfect, there is a small blem on the AP upper which is only noticable if I show you or you look closely, its not loose but not snug as a bug either. Maybe ill try one of those wedges, but as a comparison my buddy removed the wedge from his spikes lower and bcm upper and its very close to his....

Nice.

How do you like that pistol grip? I was going to get one but chose to wait for the new Magpul that will come out some time this year I guess.

Unless it really bugs you, I would not worry about the play between upper and lower, I honestly never notice it on mine.

I really like the grip, its a hard plastic. Maybe if it was a little rubbery it be the best I've felt. The bcm gf grips are a tad softer and have storage. This is hollow. I've heard about the new magpul along with the new buis, I myself will prolly pick up a set of the sites may even pick up a grip, won't hirt to have a extra around... maybe even for the next build.....

The play hasn't bothered me yet.

Thanks guys, I put a good amount of effort behind research on parts. I also took a plunge in a few newer companies, but I do think they will go far in the black rifle world.

Head to Walmart and purchase some bicycle tire tubing. Only a few dollars and makes the Umbrella feel like a MOE+ grip.

Just ordered the vortex sparc, this should get me by for a little bit. That way I can buy a aimpoint or eotech when the time is right. My wife and I are expecting a baby boy in Aug. So I gotta prep for that too its right around the corner.

Just curious but why did you get the Vortex, rather than just use iron sights and wait until you had enough money for the optic you wanted?

Well you didn't answer the real question, but that's fine. Enjoy it.

I dont quite understand why I need an explanation. Does it bother you that I bought a vortex? Why?

You're apparently not familiar with the culture of this site as opposed to TOS.

The philosophy here is all based on hard use for defensive and competitive purposes. Reliability and function are #1, hence why we say "Buy once, cry once"

Most everyone here will tell you that, given the choice between buying an inexpensive optic now and an expensive one later, the best route is to just continue saving until you can buy the item you actually want. There is nothing wrong with iron sights, a lot of guys actually prefer them over RDS due to astigmatism issues. If this is your first AR, you probably don't have a clear idea of how you will use it and what your preferences are. The only way to do that is to shoot the piss out of it until you decide what needs to get changed.

That said, I've used the Vortex RDS on a friend's gun. It seemed as though it got the job done. Vortex is a reputable company, and I happen to really like their magnified scopes. But when it comes to red dots, there's really only a couple companies in the game that get the nod around here.

I completely understand the buy once cry once theory, and get what you want the first time, why I built my rifle right from the get go. But I got this so low I'm okay with paying for it, as ill keep it for the ar15-22 ill build next for my son and fun plinking. I don't have iron sites all I have is magpul back ups and they aren't great at accuracy but close. I will still buy me a nice optic in the months to come but I have my own reasons for waiting a bit.

Rifle runs great, functions perfect. Put a little over 300 rds thru it sat morn. Even the rds is on point. Shooting steel and hitting it at 200yds with a rds is pretty good for me. Dead on at 50 hitting exactly what I aim at with 2" groups.
