I have a short carbine I use for 3 gun (never over 100 yds). I have a red dot on it and put on a set of Magpul MBUS. I have been having problems "acquiring" the front sight base because the back side of the sight is so busy. You can see the horizontal part of the post as well as the frame and when I am in a hurry, I don't always line up on the right part of the sight.

To fix this, I turned the front sight around. Now all I see is the post and the holder. Very clean sight picture. Seems to work much better at the range. Is there any down side to doing this?

First post ever! In my humble opinion and experience , if it works for you run it that way. Since its only for elevation I don't think it matters. I am very picky about front sights and I am eagerly awaiting the new magpul buis!
