Ok I'm a new member over here. I am a long time member at castboolits site under the same name and on the AKforum and Akfiles as well. Anyhow I'm a big AK guy but I have messed with AR rifles a bunch, built about 10 or so in the past and I ended up getting this barely used M&P sport for $500 so I couldn't pass it up. Now onto the questions. I read tons of garbage about the Sport being melonite vs Hard Chromed. What are your real world views on this. It seems pretty tough and wear resistant. Also it has no dust cover or fwd assist, not a big issue as I can swap the upper if I decide I need those. What say you on these not being there? The rifle will mainly be used for plinking at the range and for varmint hunting. I don't want to hear its not milspec so its crap. I want honest info and thoughts. Milspec doesn't always mean the best. I'm Active duty Air Force and have seen plenty of milspec garbage that I would never buy or use. I also will use this gun as home defense duty as well. I have 70gr federe fusion right now in it and I reload 69gr SMK and 80gr SMK but don't want the liability of using reloads if I ever have to shoot someone as it makes me look like I planned it all out etc. anyway sorry to talk for 10days. Just want opinions especially from those of you who have one.
