View Full Version : KKM Threaded Barrel... (length)

So after looking around and having no luck finding a threaded OEM barrel for my G17, I've begun looking around at other makes. I like what I've heard about KKM barrels and am thinking hard about going that route. However I don't want the threaded end to protrude too far from the slide like I've seen some makes do. Essentially I'd like as little of the barrel past the threads to protrude as possible.

For anyone who has experience with the KKM threaded barrels tell me how far they protrude from the slide? If anyone has photos could you be kind enough to post them?

Thanks in advance...

That KKM doesn't look too bad. The Storm Lake's appear to be LONG!

Try Jarvis. They're made out of carbon steel anyways, which I find preferable to SS, because they take nitride treatments better.

I think it's the angle of the gun in that pic that makes it look shorter. I believe they are all about the same length.

Keep in mind that if you're mounting a suppressor, depending on the design of the can, you need a minimum clearance length behind the threads so the recoil booster doesn't impact the slide or frame under recoil.

When in doubt, go with the barrel recommended by the manufacturer of your can.

FWIW, I don't think you'll want the Bar-Sto if shorter length is one of your criteria:
