View Full Version : i have a qustion on installing a Geissesle trigger
I am installing a new Geissele trigger on my AR and the pins have grooves in them, Does it matter what side the grooves go in, The instructions doesn't mention nothing about it.
They are identical so it doesn't matter.

What if the grooves are on the opposite sides of each other.
Are you using standard trigger pins? All the Geissele triggers I have seen to include the ALG have pins grooved on both sides and the center. It doesn't matter which way you put them in. The hammer is held in place by the J spring and hammer spring rests on top op the trigger pin and holds it in place.

Yes I am using the Geissele pins that cam with the trigger.
The pins that came with my G-triggers only had grooves on one end

The instructions had an illustration showing the groove installed on the left, so that's how I did it. I was told in another thread that which direction the groove went did not matter unless installing a full auto trigger (post 11 in this thread https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=72111)
In any case, I've never had a problem with either of my G-triggers
The direction doesn't matter but its easier to start the side with no grove as you don't have to push the grove past the spring legs twice

Heres instruction vids from the man himself:

Odd, mine had all 3 just like the ALG's. You are correct in that it truly only matters with an auto sear.

The groves should be on the safety selector lever side of the receiver.

According to the man who makes them, it doesn't matter which way the pins go, at least for the SSA.
So whats the correct answer.
My G2S instructions said it only matters is your using a pin with the groove on 1 side otherwise it does not matter.

Here is the correct answer

That should settle the issue.
Lets look at this logically. The hammer pin needs the center groove so that the J spring in the hammer engages the groove to prevent it from walking out. The trigger pin needs ONE groove so that one leg of the hammer spring can engage it to prevent it from walking out. The hammer spring could care less if it's the left leg or the right leg. Therefore it matters not which way you put the pin in. BUT it is easier to install the hammer pin with the non-grooved end going in first.
To keep us morons from using the wrong pin in the wrong application, somebody decided to make them interchangeable by putting the needed grooves in each pin.
I put in the side w/out grooves first, but only because I thought my fingers would break off from trying the other way (in my lap in basement w/only hammer ).
