Trying to track down a decent BCG for a POS dmps. Since Bravo Co. seems to be eternally out of stock, I need to know if anyone has ran a Midwest Industries BCG yet?

I had no idea Midwest was making BCG's. Where did you see them?

They have them on their website. I just stumbled on it today, I don't think they have offered them for too long.

Seems to be made of the right stuff. I looked it up and found a review where the carrier didnt appear to be sufficiently staked.

The specs look okay minus the HPT...not sure about Midwest Industries website though. I don't believe it's real time

If you want a Full Auto LMT, Bravo had them last time I checked at $190.

Awesome, thanks.

I have also personally saw and handled these BCGs in MI's retail store. From what I saw, it all looks good to me. I have been seriously considering one, but I have my heart set on BCM. They are my hometown hero's after all.

Saw this at the AIM website...sounds good, and may be all you need for your use. Just providing options.

Not sure why you would think it sounds good when they are using a 9310 bolt rather than Carpenter 158.

Since he was looking for a "decent BCG for a POS dmps", I figured the BCG I pointed out in the link would suite his needs. If I were just looking for the same and not drop a ton of $$, I would consider this BCG for myself. BTW - I am not trying to endorse this product...just providing options :dance3:

I found a review for the MI BCG here http://kctactical.blogspot.com/2013/06/midwest-industries-bolt-carrier-group.html
It looks like they had some extraction issues with it, but that could easily be fixed with a bcm extractor upgrade kit.

Thanks for providing more options, I do appreciate it. This is for my bro's dmps, I have been put in charge of making this decision, since he obviously can't make a good one. The goal is to polish this turd, until it is a turd no-more. And while I do appreciate the other options, The BCG takes most of the abuse of the weapon, and in my opinion the most influential part determining reliability. That being said, if he is going to dump alot of cake into his turd, the BCG is the best place to start.

Last time I was on the MI web site (quite a while ago) they were stocking BCM BCGs. Looks like they went and branded their own now.

Stopped in to MI today and snapped a few pictures of their BCGs. Thanks to Pete for letting me get in there and do this.

I'm not in love with the staking job, at least they tried. The bolt would worry me as well, I'm just spoiled on BCM.

I'll keep my DD BCG...staking looks a little fishy

What's wrong with the staking? You can clearly see where the two metals merge, and it looks like a dedicated staking tool was used.

Color me impressed. I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if BCM pointed Midwest in the right direction as far as materials / suppliers given that Midwest is one of the major BCM dealers.

It's fine to have a brand preference, and I hope someone more knowledgable like IraqGunz chimes in, but that BCG's staking and material list looks just as good as any I've owned (DD, BCM, Colt, etc).

I too do not understand what the problem is with the staking? I know it's hard to tell for sure by the picture, but the staking looks identical to the staking on my BCM carrier. Is there something I'm missing?

I like their SS Gen2 rail. I'm not sure about their BCG's. That's a critical part. I use LMT bcg's in all of my rifles because there is no doubt about their quality. LMT, BCM, DD, Colt, and other proven bcg's would be the only choices for me.

MI is a stand up company. I think if their BCG had issues, they would fix them, or replace them. I know this because, I had a rifle length 2 piece free float handguard for about 2 years. When it came loose, I tried to snug it back up, stripping it out. MI sent me a gen 2 SS rail free of charge...no questions asked.

Im thinking I may run one as an extra to see how it performs.
