View Full Version : Good tactical handgun course?
Anyone know where one can go to take a good tactical handgun course? Anywhere within the continental U.S. is fine.
Thanks!!!

Vickers class in Nov.
Assess your current skill level and what your goals may be then choose a school that fits your needs. Insure you have a good base to progress(crawl, walk, run)
I say this because I've seen people who want to run around through courses, yet they can't hit a thing, but they're cool.

abdon,
Larry Vickers' classes are top notch! I've attended literally dozens of courses and went to two of Larry's this year. I don't think you could make a better choice for a trainer.

Just want to +1 both the LAV recommendation and, more importantly, mark's wise advice. Make sure you take a class that will teach you new things without being way past your level. Most instructors can give you a general idea of what they expect in terms of ability before you show up. If you cannot meet those expectations, you shouldn't take the class. Either (a) you'll slow down the whole class and rightfully earn the ire of your fellow classmates, or (b) you'll get left behind because the instructor won't waste everyone else's time to help you learn to crawl.
You don't need to be a world-class shooter to learn how to fight with a gun, but you should be able to hit what you aim at before you take that next step.

LAV holds a great course of which I am excited to go back and train with him again. I would advise any of his offerings.

I have to disagree with this. Rogers is a great school for people who are already strong shooters. It is not the place to learn to shoot a handgun. It's the place to learn to shoot a handgun with reactive speed & accuracy. They also have the best dry-fire program I've seen at any school.
I also don't think folks would consider it a "tactical" course.
