Ar scope for multipurpose ?

Been looking for a remington ltr 308 with no luck locally. I was wondering if I could buy a scope for my ar to use this hunting season that I could eventually put on a remington ltr and put my aimpoint pro back on after I acquire the ltr. Is there such a beast or am I going about this all wrong?

you're just looking for a hunting scope? buy any scope that you have in mind for your hunting rifle, and run it on your AR if you want. You will probably be buying a separate mount for both rifles though. I would assume you are going to want to run your scope a bit taller on your AR.

cant recommend a scope without more specifics on what you want for hunting. i prefer vx-2 3-9x50 scopes for my basic bolt gun hunting rifles. well built, moderately priced, light weight, and simple. IMHO adjustable turrets and doodads have no place on a basic hunting rifle. KISS.

A bit more info on what you will be hunting, and distances/ranges would help. But, yes you can pretty much put any scope on an AR that you would put on a bolt gun. As has been said, you will most likely need different mounts.

Thanks for the info guys. Sorry for the lack of detail. Ill be hunting whitetail in western nc mountains so probably 100yds or less. That being said I want the scope to eventually use on a remington ltr 308 so probably longer distance usage but also going to be using for hunting deer also. The ar I want to put the scope on is a bcm free float upper bfh without front sight post so maybe I can use the same mount on both? I guess I am looking for a happy medium that I can use on the ar and the ltr when I get it and put the pro back on the ar when said rifle is purchased. Maybe this is not possible but I was hoping that possibly some scope would be sufficient.

I'd say something in the 2x-7x 2.5x-8x or 3x-9x range would serve your purposes, especially for deer hunting. Whether you will get away with using the same mount setup for both guns--well you can try. Remember there is no drop on an AR, like there is on a bolt gun, so your cheek weld is going to be an issue.
