Why am I not able to find 1/8 uppers? Seems strange that bcm, dd, and colt don't make chrome lined 1/8 uppers- they are all ss.
I was under the impression that 1/8 is used in SS barrels to reduce the wear in the softer stainless steel while keeping the ability to stabilize the longer/heavier projectiles.
If your question was why don't they do 1/8 in chrome moly barrels that are chrome lined, I think the answer is that it is too little of a variation in twist rate to make a difference.

I mean, i know many times Larue guns have 1/8 twist. Paul Howe is a fan of this twist to. Just curious why some of the big companies don't make it, I'm sure theres not enough of a market for it i guess.
LaRue's barrels are all stainless. BCM's stainless barrels are all 1/8. I have built some rifles with stainless Lothar Barrels that were 1/7 or 1/8 and some Lilja barrels that were all 1/8 but I have never seen a 4150 barrel that was 1/8.
Although I have never gave it any thought, you are posing a good question and that is, Why not in a chrome barrel?

Interesting, I did not realize that all larue's barrels are stainless. So Nobody makes a 1/8 chrome lined barrel??? Strange
Noveske's stainless barrels are 1/7.
Sionics offers 41V50 chrome lined barrels with 1:8 twist. I hope I'm not talking outta my ass here, but I believe IG has some sort of affiliation with Sionics for his AR armorer's course. Maybe he can shed some more light on them. They X-ray and MP inspect their barrels, but if I'm not mistaken they do not HP test them.

Also see this thread. This rifle utilizes a chrome lined 1:8 barrel. I'm not sure if the OP divulges his source for it or not in the thread anywhere.

Chrome lined 1-8" M4 & A2 barrels near the bottom:

They are actually 4150V or CMV. I will check. Yes, they are 1/8 twist and by all accounts shoot very well.

Thanks for chiming in IG.
I'm curious, does it make a difference when you say 41V50 vs 4150V? I just listed it the way Sionics lists it on their site.

Doesn't Kreiger Criterion make chrome lined 1:8 barrels?
I verified Criterion makes a CL 1 X 8 in 16,18,and 20.
^^^^ ummm ya. Way off topic.
Back on point. Anyone doing cl sbr barrels in 1/8?

I haven't seen any.
Depending how swamped Criterion is, they may be able to make a custom barrel.
You could have one cut down and the gas port opened up.
Perhaps IG could verify if Sionics has SBR uppers with the 1:8 barrels.
W SBR length barrels, it's probably better to use 1:7 because with the reduction of velocity bullet RPM is reduced and it's the actual RPM that stabilizes the bullet

I was just thinking about this after i posted. I suppose there are ways to compensate for that (from what i've read) but i'm not educated enough in this field to verify it nor is it on topic.
