I would not pay any where close to that price for one.

pretty pricey for an 870 with some doo-dads and a gaudy paintjob.

You could probably do as good or better with a couple of cans of Krylon.

No - 870 Expresses with ugly paint jobs!

Those muzzle breaks are for firing breaching rounds.

Mine just arrived while I was home on R/R. Overall it's a good looking shotgun. Obviously there are those who don't like the color scheme and I guess they don't have to buy one. My only complaint is the powder coating job on the barrel and receiver. It could have been a little better. I topped my gun off with a Surefire forend, Vang comp jumbo head safety, extra power Wolff spring and high-visibility follower. I'll post a pic soon.

Here is my 870 Tac Recon. The light and tube were painted with Brownells Aluma-Hyde. My FFL added the Scattergun ghost rings and I installed the VC jumbo head safety, Wolff extra power spring and hi-vis follower.

That looks better than the factory pics posted above. Do you think the muzzle break will offer much reduction in felt recoil?

I did not get a chance to fire it due to time constraints and an ammo SNAFU while I was on R/R. I do like the fact that if you desired to use breaching rounds (needed) that you have a stand off. It also screws in/ out so it can be removed. I look forward to being able to shoot it months down the road.

Also, I think Remington would be wise to offer it with a Speedfeed 13" tactical buttstock as well. I personally do not like storing rounds in the butt and never will.

Negative. A friend of mine in Fla. is an FFL. He bought it and sent it to my local FFL.

is that barrel 18 inches with the standoff, or is it an 18 inch + the standoff?

Nice upgrades,I must agree the digi is kinda ugly, but the break is nice..

To be honest I never measured it and it will be a while before I get back home. If I were to guess right I think the box said 18" barrel and since the break is removable I am assuming it's 18" plus the break.

Anybody know where to get just the break/standoff/choke/holesaw? I kind of see it also having the same utility as the teeth on phantom and other rifle muzzle devises.

What is the utility of those teeth?

weapon retention in close quarters. They hurt if you poke your foe......

Good God, what are they trying to do, make shotguns that match kitch decors?

You can get the Remington muzzle break, standoff device direct from Remington and it uses the exsisting Remchoke threads in your barrel. :)

I would guess that the Rem-choke barrel is 18" + the breaching choke tube. Another thread I read somewhere said that Remington had a 18" RC barrel now, so I guess this is one of them.

I saw one of these last week at Gander Mountain last week with the traditional style stock.

I saw a black model in the local gun shop this past weekend. It retailed for 450.00....they told me it is a limited run.

690.00 Way to much you can get a Police Model for that much. If you really want that gun check out Buds I am sure it is around 500.00.

I am not a fan of those "tactical" models. All it is is a basic 870 express with cheesy "ghost ring sights". A "tactic-cool" non functional breecher choke. I heard a lot of negative press about the finish as well.

I would check out AI&P you can get a rock solid version with beefed up internal parts and a parkerized finish for a lot less..Top Quality. I am pretty sure it has a warranty as well.

Just my two cents
