Dave Spaulding will be teaching his Police Pistol Course at the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office Firing Range in Shelby, NC March 3-4, 2014.

Police Pistol
Tuition $350.00

Law enforcement officers have unique requirements when it comes to the combative pistol…requirements that are not regularly addressed during standard in-service qualification. The 21st Century street cop needs to be proficient with his duty sidearm anywhere from contact distance (arrest situations) to 25 plus yards (active killer/shooter situations). This course is for law enforcement only. The course is for those who do not just shoot in self-defense, but seek out law breakers and place themselves between the citizens they are sworn to protect and the felons who would prey upon them. This is a course for hunters…not just defense shooters. Subjects to be covered: essential combative pistol skills; surgical speed shooting and manipulation; one hand shooting and manipulation; critical Space combative pistol skills (“bad breath” distances); reduced light applications (is facility permits); point shooting and sighted fire and how they complement one another; dynamic movement; grounded shooting; rapid position change; use of back up guns (if used); developing the Combative Mind.

Equipment needed: a quality handgun (two is not a bad idea in the event your gun breaks), holster designed to carry the selected gun, two additional spare ammunition carriers/magazines, eye and ear protection, billed cap or hat, knee pads, clothing appropriate for the weather conditions, 600 rounds ammunition.

Dave Spaulding was awarded the 2010 Law Officer Magazine Trainer of the Year at the International Law Enforcement Trainer and Educators Association’s Conference in Chicago. He has 36 years of Law Enforcement & Federal Security experience. Dave was a founding member of his Agency’s SWAT Team, and he spent 12 years as its training officer. Dave spent five years as a full time use of force instructor, and another five years as the commander of a multi-jurisdictional drug task force, working major narcotics cases from Seattle to Miami. During his years in SWAT and the drug task force, Dave performed hundreds of high-risk, forced entries into the lair of heavily armed felons. Working all aspects of law enforcement, including: corrections, communications, patrol, homicide detective, burglary investigations, evidence collection, and a long-term, high-risk, deep- undercover operation; Dave honorably retired at the rank of Lieutenant.

Class is restricted to LE/Military only.
