For those of your who have experience with the BCM GUNFIGHTER Compensator, is a viable alternative to an A2 flash suppressor on an HD carbine? I re-read some of the BC threads and was wondering if the BCM Comp had sufficient enough flash suppression to make mounting one a good idea on a dedicated HD gun.

I have both Battle Comps and the BCM Comps. They both eliminate flash just fine.

While Battle Comp isn't one compared this is a nice video of 12 different flash hiders/comps so as to give you an idea/comparison even if it is filmed in different conditions.

After a few seconds of seeing the various flash hiders on the table and the weapon used go to the 2:30 min mark and watch the shooting.

The Smith Vortex (5:30 mark) is amazing in its reduction (you can almost say elimination).

I think you are worrying too much about nothing. Unless you plan on getting into a protracted firefight at midnight in you living room I wouldn't be obsessed with this. The BCM comp works good as does the A2 as does the Battle Comp.

You make an excellent point.

From a 14.5" barrel shooting M856. It appears the camera is closer than jwfuhrman's vid.

Regardless, the Smith Vortex all but eliminates muzzle flash. The BCM comp doesn't come close.

The BCM is a great comp.

The Vortex is a great flash hider.

Two different tools for two different scenario's.

You should be more concerned with concussion and side blast than muzzle flash when talking about indoor use.

I'm no high speed operator but I try to learn from others' lessons. After researching all the different compensators on the market and reading the linked thread below I'm sticking to flash hiders since being in an enclosed space, most likely my house in a self defense situation, with a battlecomp sounds like it would end miserably.

• Slinging lead from a SBR inside of a car is loud. Not just loud for the shooter, but painfully loud for the passenger. My partner and I were shooting 11.5 and 12.5 BCM’s with battlecomps. While I am a big fan of the battlecomp on the flat range. Shooting it inside of a vehicle has me rethinking it. Every time my partner shot, I wasn’t sure if I was being blown up or just set on fire.

+1 on this, in an HD scenario the conflict will likely last seconds and your adrenaline will be to a level that the minimal differences in flash output of your defense carbine will be the last thing you notice. I'd worry more about proper implementation of your firearm under pressure.

Never had an issue with flash from my BCM Comp. Ive never really been afraid of a little flash in an HD situation...

I mirror what others say, I would rather have a flash hider for HD at night than a brake.

Here's a Battle Comp in low light (on DD 14.5" barrel carbine gas)

Here's an AAC flash hider in the same low light (on SCAR 16" barrel, piston operated)

And stock A2 flash hider (on BCM 16" barrel mid gas)
