M1carbine gas piston help.

I postef this in amother site, bit I still need help. Anybody know how tight the gas piston nut is supposed to be? I took my out to clean it. The nut was loose to begin with. After I put it back together and tightened the nut down, the piston doesn't move at all. some help would greatly be appreciated.

As far as I can tell the section dealing with the piston starts on page 69.
