View Full Version : Beryl Stock Button Sticking "in"

I've had it for around a year. I don't actually fold it that much so it hasn't gotten a lot of wear on my part. But the other day I pushed the button to fold it and the button sticks in and is pretty hard to pull it out (the button itself).
So, I dripped a little lube in it. Now yesterday I got it out and started to play with it and it seems worse sad.png. I think the lube may be causing a "suction"??

Anyone else have this issue with theirs? I know I can take this apart with the pins but not sure if I can get into the button.

I am about to spay some PB Blaster in there to see if that frees it up, I just wanted to see if I could get a response first.

Here is out (where it should "pop" out to after pressing it in)

Here it is stuck in...

Here is another shot of it as it should be. (This is with the stock open. If I were to push it in to fold to the side it would stick like the picture directly above.)

I've had AK stock buttons stick, if removing it is an option I'd say pull it out and hit the contact areas (should have obvious wear marks). You may even find a bur or flaw causing the hang up. If you can't/don't want to remove it, dropping some lube in and spending 10 minutes working it in and out should help.

Thanks. I did lube it and worked it quite a bit, didn't really help. Its easier to push but still sticks.

Thinking about taking it a part, just don't want to turn it into a paper weight, LOL.

Try some penetrating oil like Kroil or liquid wrench.

I would take it apart and clean it. It's an AK part, there is nothing too complicated in there.

If your worried about disassembly, you will have to "use" it till it fits. Metal on metal contact will wear in with use, very common, don't let it bother you.;)

LOL.

Used some penetrating stuff, helped but not solved. Will open 'er up tonight.

so as not to derail the thread could you post another thread with some info on the beryl stock vs fixed stock? these have my interest but i'm a bit concerned with them being too low for a good cheek weld.

There is no free lunch. I acquired three of these stocks as they are IMHO the "best" option to convert AKMs with standard stocks to a folder without cutting off your receiever's tang or have some after market adaptor that spans out through time and space.

I prefer folders due to their size, good for storage and concealment. If the cheek weld is an issue there are options to improve it.

I love the stock (until the button issue, lol). You cannot beat it the price (I paid $119 for an "excellent"), ease of install and OEM look.

Here is a pic of me shooting it last weekend those shows some cheek action. It's no where near as comfy as standard stock or AR stock, but it's workable.

I find it second only to the plastic Russian side folders, but of course, those need to have the side folder rear trunnion.

It is certainly the best standard trunnion folder option, in my opinion.

Well I finally had the time to get sit down and take care of this hinge.

Disassembly was easy, pop out one roll pin and the button and spring came right out.

There was a fair amount of rust in there.

There wasn't really enough light in the garage so I went outside.

There were a couple burs, you can see them here.

I took care of them with a fine hand file

Cleaned everything and lubed it all up.
And here it is... Better than when I got it.
