Army shooters all the way.

SSG Brandon Green has won the 2013 National Highpower Championship after beating last years champ Carl Bernosky on a tie-breaker.

SSG Tyrel Cooper won the NRA Service Rifle Championship(shooting an AR platform of course), only 4 points back from match rifle shooters Green and Bernosky.

Brandon was the JROTC National Champion with an air rifle. He asked to enlist to serve in the United States Army Marksmanship Unit to shoot International Rifle (air rifle and .22). The coach rejected his application because he had no college shooting experience.

The Service Rifle Team heard and immediately signed him up. The rest is history. He has gone on to win the National Championships, the Interservice Championships, the President's Match, and a bunch of others.

Nice! Great job, Soldiers.

And that was obviously some very smart thinking by the Service Rifle Team coach.

To be the best you have to beat the best. Bernosky has victories in the HP championship all the way back to 1977. The fact that the tie was broken by x-count at 600 yds is amazing. Green held hard and was victorious.

I am also impressed with the fact that Cooper stayed within four points using a post front sight on a service rifle. I would look for the USAMU to carry the momentum to the long range championships.
