View Full Version : Magpul rear sight, tell me...
Is this pin, which I marked with a nice X,supposed to be really loose? I noticed it sticking out today and pushed it back in with just my thumb

Not real sure I like that, thing may wind up on the EE for trade if that's normal....
Does it come back out easily? I just checked one of my rifles that has that sight (mine is a gen2, yours looks gen2). Mine does not budge in anyway. Wonder if it is a friction fit pin or something that is captured inside similar to the hammer pin in the fcg?

Slides out ether side easy with just a push and simple finger pressure sends it back in,looks like it'd slide out whenever I raise or lower the sight.
It's recessed so I need a tool to get it going but here's what a slight push with a small drive bit does:

I can just push it back with my finger.
It's not. Contact customer service for help, we'll make it right.

Okay just so you know this came pre-mounted on my Colt 6920,dunno if that means anything or not.

OP, please contact the Magpul customer service folks, as Jimmy mentioned. I have contacted them before about a shipping issue (not their problem, it was the shipping company) and they were real fast to take care of me. I'm sure they will take care of you.
I sent an email,if I hear nothing by Monday I'll call too.
Kinda curious now if it's real,a fake,or just broke since it came OEM on a rifle.

What sets the Airsoft and PTS ones apart from the "real" MBUS? I have not run into any Airsoft ones but I would like to know hat to look for.
Thanks.
Pins that come out like that...when I bought PTS versions it did the same thing after about 50 rds
Fit and finish is not as good...look for not rounded edges...cheaper feeling polymer
Also look for the apertures moving during when you flip up the site
Those were three things that PTS versions did to me
MAGPUL does have great customer care...if it came like that on a Colt..they will stand behind it...they stood behind me on a PMAG
We'll see what they say when they get back to me,I dunno if it feels cheap to me or not but I do know the gun shoots very well with it.
Since I use the irons in the day and the RDS at night it gets flipped up and down a good bit I just noticed the pin poking out today while I was replacing the rail on the HG.

If it came with the rifle, it is not the airsoft version.
You got a dud, shit happens, Magpul will take care of you.
Had a mag issue on a duty magazine during the craze and magpul took care of me in less than two days. Magpul's respect and commitment to customers is second to none.
Update for you:
Called them Monday and was told to send along my mailing info with my explanation what was up,got an email Tuesday and was told a new sight and return stuff was incoming.
So magpul gets an A+ for service, defiantly going to get my business again
The clue that it's the PTS version would be that it's marked 'PTS'.

They aren't marked PTS anywhere that I can see on any of the pics available for some, while others are marked PTS. http://www.airsoftfit.com/402-1630-thickbox/magpul-pts-back-up-sight-mbus-foliage-green.jpg
Close inspection reveals some contour and detail characteristics on some models,http://www.airsplat.com/Images/AC-UP-MGP-MBUST.jpg
not sure if these characteristics are consistent through every gen change. These pictured below ( top pic) for eg. seem identical to "real" MBUS ( bottom pic)
