What methods are used to determine the dimensions of the part of the sight that slides into the slide’s dovetail?
It would seem to me that unless the designers were able to get manufacturer specs and tolerances it would be prohibitively expensive to make sure you had the right measurements. For Example buying 20 slides or in some cases complete pistols from different manufacturing runs and taking the extreme dimensions to make sure that the measurements consistent.
