Here is a link that shows the FNM CHF barrel making process.

Thanks!
I just moved out of the M240/249 area to the barrel line and I've been standing next to the hammer forge for the past couple days.

So is hearing protection needed in the hammer forge machine area ?
I noticed the machine operator didn't have muffs on and could not tell if he had ear plugs in.

Most of us wear ear plugs. The Swage (forge) sounds like a locomotive when it's getting busy.

You can count on one hand the number of firearms manufacturers that make their own barrels. Colt and Remington spring to mind, with Noveske right behind.
There's one you can scratch off that list...
Hammer forging has been proven to be the most accurate method of barrel production, providing a longer useful barrel life and greater accuracy.
According to who?
I think Bartlein, Kreiger, Satern, Obermeyer, Rock Creek and Brux may have a different view...

I think he meant for production barrels, not custom barrels.

Colt?
I know Remington makes their own barrels and Noveske makes their own SS barrels.

Just watched the YouTube clip and...
No one ever taught the governor of South Carolina how to shoot a handgun or a rifle?
Huh.

I will gladly trade our Governor for her and throw in free shooting lessons. As a matter of fact, I would gladly donate our Governor to any state that would take him and ask nothing in trade.
It's good to see the political leader of a state, any state, is willing to tour manufacturing facilities and promote job growth.

Noveske stainless barrels are made by Pac-Nor. I'd bet the CHF Noveske barrels are FN.
I've owned several Noveske barrels, and they've been great, but I would consider them more of a barrel finisher, than a barrel maker.

Minor quibble, but one I know was somewhat important to John: Noveske's stainless barrels are made in PacNor's facility by Noveske staff with Noveske machines.
From an article that's probably better than 5 years old at least, but he said it was Noveske's employees, using Noveske's tooling. Ie buttons and reaming tools. Also keeping in mind the late Noveske was an employee.
Not the same as owning your own deep hole drill.
You can always rent space/use in a machine shop. I don't think this detracts from their product, but I still don't consider them a barrel maker the way Kreiger or Douglass etc would be.
