Didn't come out too bad, especially since I don't know what I'm really doing.

Scroll down to see it finished.

Old ammo crates I found at a winery.

With the crate drawer open.

Love it. Isn't that the rage now to reclaim and reuse items? As my old dad would say..."ya done good".

That looks great! I found and old Peters shotshell crate and this might be its fate. How stable is it with the drawers pulled out? It looks like it wants to tip over. What kind of wood did you use for the top and the lower shelf?

Hate to piss on your parade, but this is the wrong subforum for this.
Maybe ask a moderator to move it.

BTW, good work!

The steel frame is about 40 lbs and the top is made of 1.5 inch thick travertine. It's probably close to 80 lbs. might be the angle of the shot that makes it look like its tipping over plus the crates aren't really square. Thanks!!

Yes sir! I was thinking the top was a distressed white oak w/ glaze or chem metal of sorts... Both my guesses were wrong :p

EDIT* - and after reading all the posts I should have seen that >_<

The top is a piece of travertine I found at a crate and barrel outlet. Burnt effect was done by burning it lol. I just used a hand held propane torch.

I've been working in custom millwork for years, and for "not knowing what you're doing" I must say that is very impressive work, especially on the burning / finish.

Thanks for the kind words. The only other thing I've ever refinished was an old wood stock.

You got that right. It's heavy enough you wouldn't need to bolt it down.

Any more pictures of this? Preferably more of the cerakote. That doesn't look like sniper grey from these pictures and I am pretty interested in that.

It's hard to tell from the pics since they're from my cell phone. I'll try to take some with my slr. It's a pretty dark gray. I used the oven cure for this build. The sniper gray air cure is significantly lighter.

Still not done but getting there. I made this for a 2/75 ranger buddy of mine.
