This was the first VSM class I put on and it was really well received. All the credit really goes to the LAV. He made me an accurate pistol shooter years ago and gave me the drills to not only keep my skills sharp, but to pass on to others - long before I ever thought of starting a business, I would use the drills I got from training with Larry, with friends and people were always amazed at how they improved.

This is also my first attempt at an AAR, so hopefully it's not painful to read.

The class was small, 6 people in total. 4 law enforcement officers, a firefighter who also teaches NRA handgun classes & a teacher. I believe only 1 student had been to any training outside of the police academy.

I started with a safety brief and got right in to the basics: stance, grip sight alignment/sight picture and trigger control.

The drills started with the classic dry fire/ball & dummy drills from the LAV & progressed in to working on follow through for 1 shot through multiple shots. As they progressed, I added in scan & assess

We then moved in to holster work and ready positions & I included a demo on firing your gun if someone should grab the pistol around the slide and frame.

Next came reloads & malfunctions.

We finished up with a 5 & 1 drill from 25 yards, followed by Paul Howe's CSAT pistol standards.

We were limited by the range hours (10 - 4), so even though everyone brought a lunch - we only had 5 1/2 hours to actually shoot. Round count was between 200 & 250.
