This course was specifically designed for the operator/shooter of the M16/AR15 type weapon system. This course will enable you to completely understand how to keep this weapon system up and running. This course covers all variants within the family of M16/AR15 (type) weapons. This class is not the Colt Armorers Class, but is designed to provide an in-depth operational training experience for serious users of the AR system in law enforcement, military and civilian defense roles. Reviews of the class have been consistently excellent with regard to the class content, information relevance and instructor knowledge and competence.

Course Objectives: Upon completion of the course you will know the proper maintenance routines, inspection procedures, preventative maintenance, ballistics for selected barrel lengths, recommended (and not recommended) accessories and field repair of this weapon system, including semi-auto and select-fire trigger systems. You will also have a complete understanding of the cycle of operation and the fire control theory.

Course Instructor: Sgt. Dean Caputo is a 26-year veteran of a Southern California municipal law enforcement agency and is a certified Colt LE/Military Armorer Instructor and Instructor-Trainer. He developed the patrol rifle program for his agency and has consulted on other PD’s program development processes. Caputo developed this course to address the needs of serious operators of the AR system for a large Federal LE agency and has presented it to numerous agencies and individuals since its inception.
