10-32 Solutions and Milwaukee COPS are partnering up to conduct the Defensive Carbine and Movement class on Sunday, October 27, 2013, at the Racine County Line Rifle Club.

This course is intended for those who look at their carbine as a defensive platform, either through LE duties or Home Defense scenarios.

In the morning, we will discuss mindset and skills involved with modern defensive tactics, techniques and procedures. Topics will include multiple targets, shooting and moving, and drills designed to get away from "square range" mentalities like shoot two and evaluate; and introduce students to fighting mindsets of shooting until the threat has stopped, shooting to the ground, and changing gears.

The afternoon will commence with drills and scenarios to build the basic foundations of working with 2-man teams. Scenarios have been developed that will require problem solving and thinking on your feet, in addition to carbine skills, something that most do not get the chance to develop on the range.

This is a course that will require verifiable and current training or experience. WE WILL CHECK YOUR REFERENCES. As this is not a beginner course, we require current levels of training competencies because techniques change over time. Since we will be breaking out of the square range mentality and incorporating movement, we must ensure the safest environment possible.

To apply for the course, please submit the following information:

Name, as it appears on your drivers license/address/DOB_____

Carbine/Handgun/Calibers used_____

Previous Experience (Work or Other)_____

Previous Training (Course/Instructor/Dates)

We will contact you for registration if you meet prerequisite criteria.

Ammunition count is estimated at 300 rounds Carbine, 100 rounds Pistol (You will only need the full 100 if you have a carbine that malfunctions frequently.).

A pistol is required. Mini pistols like the Glock 26/27 are not recommended; others designed for CCW like the Sig Sauer 938, Ruger LC9, or S&W Shield are not allowed. A holster that provides retention of the pistol, be it friction or locking mechanism (Either thumb break or internal.) is required. Holsters that require the use of the trigger finger to disengage retention, such as the Serpa, will not be allowed in the class. Inside the Waist band holsters of any kind also will not be allowed. We recognize and encourage the “Train like you fight” mindset. We encourage wearing the gear you will probably be wearing when the gunfight starts, however, there is a time and place where CCW holsters are not a wise choice. This course is one of them, and we want ultimate safety on the range.

Students will need to carry 3-4 carbine magazines on their person, in addition to the one in the carbine. This can be accomplished with a simple chest rig, a USGI bandoleer, or even 2-3 USGI mag pouches on the belt. The last two options will get you by for the class, and if you have any gear questions, feel free to ask prior to any purchases and we will be happy to help share any insight and experiences we have had over the years.

Red dot sights such as Aimpoint not mandatory but are very highly encouraged.

Rimfire carbines such as a S&W M&P 1522 are also welcome.

Carbines will need a sling. Any quality 1,2 or 3 pt slings are acceptable. Simple carry straps that came with the rifle are not considered slings that will provide any benefit in this class.

WE TRAIN RAIN OR SHINE. IT CANNOT BE STRESSED ENOUGH TO DRESS FOR THE WEATHER; AND YOU MUST BE PREPARED FOR ANY WEATHER!

Snacks, drinks, (NO ALCOHOL!) bug spray, sunscreen, lawn chair, EZ-Up type shelter are not mandatory but are highly encouraged. We will NOT have enough time to leave the range for lunch, so bring lunch to eat on site. We will likely have some lecture during lunch.
