Has anyone used the Law Tactical folding stock adapter on a recent build. Thinking about an SBR that would fit in a backpack.

Before I get chewed out I did a search and could not find anything and yes, I did also pose this question on TOS.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Here is the product link. http://www.lawtactical.com/product_p/2012201.htm

Thanks for the search results Mr. Fingers. It still didn't answer my questions but I'm thinking about risking the 200 bucks and give it a shot. The reviews I read are good but I always like to see what the community has to say about things too.

I have had my hands on a few. Have not had a chance to put 1 on any of my rifles yet but I am in the process of doing so as we speak.

They work as advertised. They make your AR easier to carry. And if we are talking an SBR it makes it even easier.

Have one on my AR pistol and one on my DPMS 308 with a 14.5 inch barrel. They are good for what I use them for, which is compact carry. The 308 fits in a Wilson tennis racquet bag. Function firing on both has caused zero issues. Accuracy is the same, but there is a very slight wiggle noticeable. Cleaning/removal of the BCG has an additional step because you have to unscrew the bolt tail extension. Overall I am not disappointed in it and don't feel I wasted money, even though they are pricey.

Does anyone know if these will work with a HK 416/MR223/556 upper? Thanks

My experience was less than stellar. I installed one and quickly noticed the buffer was being battered around the edges. The Buffer retainer pin is at an angle and this was causing the wear on the buffer. Now I really don't care that parts wear, I do care that it was appreciable after just two mags or so.

I spoke with several people who I trust and have used them. None of them report the results I saw. I may have the one unit that is problematic, but I wont be buying another one.

Post in reference to carrying in backpack - http://www.vdmsr.com/2014/12/vertx-gamut-update.html

I have two folding adapters. One is a Gen3 (newest) and one is a Gen2. The Gen2 center screw ring (the one that attaches the adapter to the lower) has walked out me during training, thankfully I noticed it and tightened it up, no issues since.

The Gen3 has no such issue and just works. Both adapters are on guns that have over 2k rounds through them and I have seen no issues. I carry one that is on my pws mk107 sbr daily and it has no problems. I know a bunch of guys (including people that could be referred to as "operators") who have them at work and have experienced no issues.

I use PWS enhanced tubes/buffer's on both of mine and have seen no abnormal wear or issues.

I have also contacted law tactical several times in reference to several questions and they have always been fairly quick to respond.

Have you seen any running the HK 416/MR223 platform? Thanks. There should be an "upgrade kit" for the Gen 2 coming out sometime?

Can't comment on any upgrade kit, though the gen2 and gen3 I have look really similar, I do not exactly know what the differences are but I am sure they are enough from an engineering view that warrant a different generation.

I have not seen any of these on an HK AR platforms run by people I know.

You can put yours on my 416 :)

I have one on a BCM AR pistol, and it works very well. It is a ride-along companion when I take a long road trip. I have the Gen2 model.

I have one on a DRD take down pistol which fits really nice in a pack. takes about 60 seconds to assemble. The longest part is the 8 inch barrel.

I was also looking at these for a specific build, wrote to ask a few questions twice and I am still holding my breath :) It's nice to know that some have had better response times. Third time is a charm I suppose.

I had a gen 2 where the spacer rotated 90 degrees and locked up my rifle. Looking forward to the gen 3 though as the new spacer will solve that problem.

Was just looking at these the other day for an M1A in a McCann carbon stock with AR style stock. Cant seem to find any in stock anywhere.

For those with AR pistols? Anyone running a Sig Brace on your AR pistols with this device?

I called them late last year and they said they were way behind in production. I would like to pick up one or two more.

I would like to get ahold of a Gen 3 as well. I've had good results with the Gen 2.

Been waiting and waiting for this to be available. I'm surprised others haven't filled the void with competition.

Thats really interesting. It says "Law Tactical" on the side of the part in their illustration. I wonder if they bought the old gen 1 or gen 2 stuff at discount?

you must have a gen 2 - the gen 3 spacer does not need to be clocked.
I go over the differences between the gen 2 and 3 in my writeup here: http://www.militarymorons.com/weapons/ar.furniture4.html#lawgen3

Yes sir correct. I was a generation ahead on everything.

Law Tactical's Facebook page estimated a two month time before units would be ready counting down from May 15.

I have had one since Xmas. Slick little setup. I would recommend a charging handle with a bit bigger of a latch, as the folding mechanism protrudes a bit.

Since there is a thread....

I bought a battlearms dev. sabertube and attempted to install it into a gen2 I have - it didn't fit. In fact it got stuck and I have to tool up the tube to get it to come out (yay tool marks! or battle worn??).

It fit the gen3 without issue.

I emailed Law Tactical and am waiting to hear back from them in reference to getting the gen2 replaced. We will see what happens - I'll update when I get info,

Voodoo, good to know! I've been looking at the sabertube but I don't believe it's long enough for me (BAD said it's the equivalent of collapsed or first notch on regular extension tube). With the folding stock assembly, this would lengthen the pull closer to my sweet spot.

I have been running a Gen 3 for about a month or 500 rounds of assorted practice. What matters to me is no failures of any kind on two SBR'd uppers. I like the compact nature and it is fast to deploy the butt section.

I have not yet carried it into the field for any duration.
