Get ready for the season of drunken moose. As ripe fruit falls from the trees and ferments on the ground, it is time for some of Sweden’s most majestic wild animals to act in a most un-regal manner.

One home owner east of Stockholm, the capital, has already been confronted by a mob of boozed-up moose. The five animals, feasting on rotten windfalls, “were threatening” and refused to let him into his garden.

“Sensibly enough the (moose) left the scene when police arrived,” writes Albin Näverberg on Stockholm police’s website.

To prevent further moose booze-binges the home owner, who lives in Värmdö, east of Stockholm, was advised to remove the apples from his yard.

“The (moose) will have to get drunk somewhere else,” writes Näverberg.

Sometimes, the animals are a danger to themselves. Stockholm police officer Ulf Lindgren told The Local that Monday, one belligerent moose got into a brawl with a swing set.

"He had gotten his horns tangled in the chains and was stuck in the swing set," Lindgren said.

The animal eventually managed to get himself free, but not before moving the swing about 820 feet from the rest of the playground.

"It was raining really bad. In the wind I heard something screaming with a very dark voice," Johansson told CNN. "At first I wondered if it was the crazy neighbors, but then I heard it again and went and checked. I saw something really big up in a tree in my neighbors' yard and it was a moose. It must have been drunk after eating fermented apples and as it was reaching out for more fruit it must have slipped and fallen into the tree."

Johansson called the local fire and rescue department, which responded with a fire engine and a jeep with a winch.

"We got the alarm at 9.59 p.m. on September 6 that a moose was stuck in a tree," said Anders Gardhagen, spokesman at the Gothenburg Fire and Rescue Services.

"When we arrived we used the winch to bend down the apple tree so the moose could get himself out of the tree. Once free, the moose collapsed on the ground and fell asleep. So we let him sleep it off and went back home" Gardhagen told CNN.

"Moose are attracted by the apple trees, and in the autumn when the apples have fallen off the trees we normally have at least one of these cases of intoxication. These apples, which ferment in their bellies, aren't part of their natural food, so they can get quite angry from this drunkenness," Gardhagen said.

And just because...

DRUNK WASPS: Just When You Thought They Couldn't Get Worse (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/07/drunk-wasps-england-britain_n_3885800.html)

Humanity's worst fear has been realized: wasps are getting drunk. And they're not fun drunks, either.

The British Red Cross is warning citizens of a record number of wasps in the UK that are out of a job. That is, their queens are fully supplied with nectar, leaving worker wasps to do nothing but laze around and drink fermenting fruit.

The Independent reported that as winter approaches, wasps are becoming bolder and angrier as they get older. And now these retirees are getting wasted and stinging with more frequency.

What's funny is they could have easily replaced "the moose" with "the man" and it would have been just as, if not more, believable.

Audio is in Swedish, but there are pics of moose when stuck and video of the somewhat hungover moose resting the day after.
