I have heard of it. I have been using it for range ammo for several years and have shot thousands of rounds of the 9MM. I recently had one dud round, I don't recall the last time that happened.

I could not tell you about the .223 ammo. YMMV.

so this is reloaded?

Si, factory "re-manufactured" ammo. Seems to be a good value for me and I have shot a boatload of it. You can buy it from Cabela's with a coupon they often send out in the mail and they come with free ammo boxes.

The .223 ammo may the same, or worse....

I'd never use it in my guns. Have seen far too many problems, including squibs. Their QC just isn't up to snuff.

well it was kinda a good deal and just for shooting at paper. i have other ammo for accuracy or self defense.

I have shot about 1000 rounds through a Mini-14...never through an AR. That was back when I could buy a 50 box for $10. I can say one good thing about this ammo. It smells better than Wolf!

Does anyone know if all their ammo is made in one plant?

Again, speaking only about the 9MM, it has been no more, or no less reliable for me than the other ammo I use, Winchester White box. 8 or 10K rounds is a prety decent size statistical sample to base my opinion on. I have never experienced a squib either. YMMV.

The .223 had some reports of kabooms awhile back.

I wouldn't shoot it if it were FREE.

I know 2 guys that shoot it but I wouldn't shoot it in my guns. If you choose to shoot it be sure and try to press the bullet back into the case. I had one box to try and shoved 2 bullets in with no problem. Another guy had this box...

UltaMax is crap and I would never shoot this crap in my high dollar Colt M4 or a cheap crappy AR or M4.

I've fired 450 rounds of Ultramax .223 in my M&P-15 without a problem and the brass is Lake City so I save it for handloading. At my sheriff's department we use Ultramax .45 for cheap qualifying and I haven't seen it blow up anybody's gun. It did kB the firearms instructor's personal Beretta a couple years ago but I wasn't there. During basic LE training in 2005, I found some boxes marked 9mm but containing .380 rounds. Bad juju.

I might keep buying .223 from Ultramax as a last resort, but it's too easy for them to double-charge or otherwise screw up pistol rounds. Luckily, I always seem able to find brand new WWB .45 ammo at Wal-Mart for only a tiny bit more than Ultramax reloads.

I saw a guys upper AR that was blown apart by a UltraMax round. BAD STUFF!!!!!!

I shot several hundred rounds of this in the past before I decided that it was a bad idea. My shooting buddy had, if I recall correctly, two case head separations on extraction. No problem other than tapping the rest of the case out, but still...

At the Raleigh gun show last weekend, a gun store/indoor range was selling .45 Ultramax at $34/100 and Black Hills blue box at $40/100 at their table. They had several hotter-than-average females, one with a barb-wire tat just like the country song, who I would guess didn't actually permanently work there. Everybody should know by now that if you hire models to stand in front of your display, you'll get plenty of traffic all right--not to buy your product, but to unsuccessfully hit on the models, resulting in a complete waste of everybody's time and money.

So I went to the average-looking guy selling reloading components and ammo, and along with Reloder 15 and primers, got some .45 Winchester White Box for $34/100, same price as Ultramax. Wal-Mart is still at $29.50/100 for new .45 so who needs to take a chance on Ultramax?

Sorry to bring this thread back, but I've had 100 rounds of utlramax .223 sitting around and now I'm worried about using it. Should I be and try to sell the stuff?

Well shoot. I was hoping I could find a gunstore or pawnshop to sell the 100 rounds of ultramax to, but they don't buy ammo from individual(which I completely understand). So now what do I do with this ammo? Go out and shoot all of it through my cheap AR or what?

Have fun blasting. I've shot it with no problems.

Well I went out and shot all of it. No problems to report, but I think I'll just buy black hills from now on.
