Camera was set to best mirror what I saw with my own eyes regarding tint and illumination. However, with my own eyes, the spill with both F04-A and sans F04-A was definitely more revealing than the camera could capture. The X300U did not give the sensation of "looking through a drinking straw" that the previous X300 did, in the least, even without the diffuser. I would go so far as to say that the diffuser's main use is heavy cover, or indoors.

You're welcome.
Yes, it is a friction/slip fit rubber diffuser cap. Very easy on/off, but won't fall off when shooting, etc. unless you snag it on something.
