Hey guys.

I'm looking for a new light mount for my 10.5" SBR.

It is currently equipped with a G2LED mounted to a Midwest Industries Front Sight mount via a VLTOR SM-G ring. This was done to both position the light in my preferred 11 o'clock position and get the off the short handguard leaving more room for my gorilla paws. This has worked satisfactorily for the last several years, but with the new items on the market I realize there are probably solutions that are lighter, simpler, and tuck the light in tighter.

I'm looking at the Thorntail series mounts and attaching it to the current DD Omega rail's top rail. I'm thinking these will give me the lighter, simpler solution I'm looking for while maintaining my preferred position and maybe tucking the light in closer.

For those of you running a Thorntail on your SBR has it met expectations? What other options out there should I consider?

Photo's of my current setup are below.

I have a Thorntail on one of my rifles, and it appears to position the light very similar to your picture; it holds tight to the FSP. It looks like you have an A2 flashider so I don't think you have to worry about "sooting" up your light too much.
