ok.... model 1sales has the ONLY 1/14 twist barrel i can find.
but it's stainless . and 24" long super heavy.
thinking... buy it .. send it to steve at Adco
pencil profile it/ cut recrown to 20"

anyone got a better ideal ?

What is your intended purpose for this rifle? Budget?



thinking of replicating the ballistics and performance of the early vietnam 1/14 twist rifles.
have a LOT of xm193

nah ... just happen tohave a bunch of xm193..

called lotharwalter .. ordering a barrel from them ..
they said ...no problem on the1/14 twist

Someone correct me if I'm wrong (and I'm sure I don't need to ask), but as I recall, the 1/14 twist was utterly abandoned by the military for use with M193, as it proved incapable of reliably stabilizing it.

If you're going for historical accuracy, you should look for a 1/12, for that load. I don't think any 1/14s went to Vietnam, at least not in US soldier hands.

Model 1 Sales is pretty much the bottom of the bucket when it comes to quality. Really, you're in Hesse/Vulcan territory here.

I don't see why you would want a 1/14 twist barrel, either. The fact that practically nobody makes them anymore is a pretty big clue.

What is your intent?

I agree with this. The 1/14 were only popular for a short time in 1961 using the 601. They later and quickly changed to the 1/12 which worked well with M193. OP I think you may want to change that order, there was a good reason why they changed.
