As the title says I am looking for a replacement pouch for the standard Dark Angel MOLLE pouch.
I did a search for dark angel pouch and such and didn't find any suggestions.

Long story short- I LOVE the fact that it has the pouch in front for the TQ/Shears, as well as single MOLLE strips on the side- lots of options- saves a lot of space/confusion elsewhere by keeping all med stuff in one spot..
HOWEVER, it is absolutely driving me nuts with its floppiness. It seems to be due to the short MOLLE straps, leaving lots of extra pouch left over at the bottom unsecured, plus it ain't the stiffest pouch ever to start with....

I saw the HSGI Bleeder, and I was stoked because it still had the side MOLLE I could easily NOW the TQ to, as well as a slot for the shears. The size seemed right, and the price was awesome. I also like the front opening velcro/clip combo flap better, and it was a little more square/stiff and had full-length MOLLE attachement. I thought it was the answer to all my frustration.
I was wrong. I literally almost cried when I attempted to stick the DA insert into the pouch only to find it is to long. :mad::suicide:

So now it's back to square one.

Is anyone using, or does anyone know of a pouch that fits the wanted criteria** that I can replace the standard DA pouch with?

**Wanted;
>Double-mag MOLLE space
>Fits DA insert
>Space for shears/TQ,
>Reasonable price/lead time
>RG/OD color
>Better design (see above italics about HSGI bleeder)

What is this floppiness that you speak of?

When I designed the original DARK pouch in 2011, the pouch used bungee retainers, and a driving requirement was for the pouch to be as conformal to the insert as possible, while providing cover and preventing unintentional opening with the EGL captive lid system

Once inserted, the kit would not be dorked with until needed.

maybe look at the ITS Tactical med pouch?

I'm not noticing any floppiness on any of mine either.

Eggroll (and fellas)- let me see if I can explain the perceived issues a little better with some pics.
I'm also comparing some things to what I'm assuming is the original design here: http://m4carbine.net/showthread.php?p=1204377

These are some of the things that I think may be contributing to the flop/movement of the pouch/kit;

For starters, the tightness and length of the MOLLE straps:

http://img802.imageshack.us/img802/5458/f7pd.jpg

In the first picture, you can see that the straps, when run through the MOLLE aren't very snug/tight. In the second picture that is an ESSTAC and TAG mag pouch side by side, utilizing two seperate methods of attachment (MALICE and MOLLE straps), and there is no play/space, even though both are empty.
Now, it would seem some of the Dk Pouch play may be due to it being lighter material than the other pouches, but I have tried other pouches in 500D, and they locked up tight, so I don't know.
Also, the integral MOLLE straps only engage two rows of the MOLLE, as opposed to the standard three for just about every other pouch I've seen of this size. This leaves a lot of extra pouch hanging unsecured at the bottom and top, which is what is leading to the vertical bouncing- picture it like a seesaw balanced on a center fulcrum. In looking at the pictures of the original pouch design in the linked thread, it seems that it engaged all three MOLLE strips, or had sme sort of velcro backing attachment... :confused:

Here in these two pictures:

You can kind of get an idea for how the above issues make the pouch tilt/hang on the front of the MOLLE panel.
Be advised, pic 2 is sideways- my bad. Please incline your head to the right to see it correctly.
It's not so obvious in pic 1, and pic two is over-exaggerated a little, but you can see in pic 1 how much space there is behind the DK pouch VS the mag pouch next to it- obviously, some of this is due to the design of the pouch lid, but in pic 2, even though it is slightly exaggerated as I'm trying to hold the thing straight with one hand making it bend, you can see how much play is in the MOLLE straps, leaving it able to hang forward a significant amount.If you look at the mag pouch next to it, the rear of that pouch is actually being pulled back as the molle platfom is bending- yes, it attaches higher than the DK pouch, but it is also loaded with 2 full mags, therefore if there was any slack in the attachement of it, it would be hanging foward like the DK pouch instead attaching tight enough to pull the top back with the bend of the molle platform.

Along with the vertical play/bounce, there is also significant side-to-side wiggle, which is actually the more annoying of the two.
I think this is due to 2 things-

In this pic:

You can see that there is a significant amount of room let over in the pouch with the kit inserted- I have stuck my thumb into the pouch with the kit for reference- while I don't have sausage fingers, they're not thin either. This combined with the light 500D(?) material makes for some significant movement. In the original design, it seems the bungee straps may have mitigated this, even though I like the new front pouch better.

In these two pics;

I have attempted to show the amount of horizontal movement- you can't really get the whole idea unless you saw it move, but in pic1 is about how it sits when not moving. In pic two is the amount it can move up to when moving/running about. It's definately a noticeable sid-to-side shuffle overall.
I thought perhaps with the TQ and shears in the front pouch it was adding to the issue, so I removed them, but there wasn't any significant lessening of movement.

So, there you have all my little gripes in a row. :D
Eggroll- if you want to PM me a email link, I can try to make up a short video so you can see exactly what I'm talking about if the pics aren't cutting it.

I see exactly what youre talking about IM me - the first run used long MALICE clips thus 5" of vertical contact surface while your kit has 3"

in the meantime, here is an example of an EGL extended kit pouch

Aha! I'm not crazy! :secret: :D

That EGL pouch is interesting and very close to what I'm looking for.
Actually, I had a theory for a redesign/hybrid combo of the HSGI and DK/EGL style pouches.

Gimme a second and I'll PM you.
