2 questions;

How well does the BCM 14.5 middy run on PMC bronze in general?

And particularly, how is it with the Vltor A5 buffer system (and which weight buffer may be best)

I've done some searching and havnt seen a consistent answer on this question, hence the new thread.

For what its worth, I've had pretty good luck with PMC bronze in my 16' Noveske N4 light Recce for training and I'd like to continue using when I get BCM 14.5 middy - if possible.

PMC Bronze is what I've shot the most out of mine. And it's run just fine. I have an H1 buffer.

I've had very good success with 14.5 mid lengths (one a LW DD, the other a BCM standard profile) using A5s with A5H3 buffers. Bronze I use as a sort of a proof round for function b/c it consistently chronos lower than the other ammo I use.
Quite a few others run A5H4s and do not have a problem. Try it with the buffer that comes with the A5 (A5H2) and go from there. Report back and let us know. If its not running then we'll go from there. There are a few things that can be done to get it running right. Make sure all other (quality) components are good to go such as gas block, gas rings, carrier staking, etc.

Is there a specific reason why PMC Bronze is the go to ammo for you? Around here American Eagle is actually cheaper and is full powered. Ive seen PMC chrono really low.

I shot a class with PMC Bronze in the spring. 450 rounds out of a BCM LW 14.5 Middy with no issues. I was using a H2 buffer and a carbine spring. I brought a H buffer with me as well but never needed it. The upper only had approx. 2500 rounds prior to shooting the PMC bronze however.

IG stated in the other thread that they started to have short stroking issues with the low power stuff after some time due to the wear issue on the gas tube with that particular 14.5 Middy upper.

I have no experience with the Vltor A5 and the 14.5 Middy.

Mine will run like a scalded dog on PMC or anything else. Lol

Just out of curiosity, what seems to be the overall opinion of PMC ammo in general on M4C? One of our LGS gets it in quite often, usually it's priced pretty good (even during the scare they got it and sold it right) and my AR's run it 100%, both 223 and 5.56. Just don't hear it mentioned to often here.

ETA...we have H buffers in ours, if that matters.

Thanks, NYH1.

Im curious about PMC because its what I've been able to get the most often as far as cheap factory training ammo and still be comfortable about using it.

Can't answer to the A5 but my Jack (BCM 14.5, B5 stock but can't remember the buffer weight) has several hundred rds (prob 7-800) of Bronze through it w/o any issues.

I've shot PMC bronze out of my 10.5", 14.5" and 16" AR's without any problems. It's not as hot as 5.56 but it works.

I've shot about 13K worth of PMC Bronze over the last few years out of my DD 14.5 middy, BCM 14.5 Middy and SR15's and haven't had any issues to date.

Both the 14.5's have H buffers and the SR15 is using the factory SR15 marked buffer (carbine IIRC).

I've shot PMC Bronze in everything I've owned.. It's mild mannered, but otherwise good to go.. FWIW.. Cheers.. Ron

PMC bronze shoot just fine in my BCM 14.5" middy. I've shot it with the standard A5H buffer as well as the A5H3. Functioned just fine with either of those with the H3 having a noticeably lighter recoil impulse.

I put just over 900 rounds of PMC .223 through my BCM 14.5" Middy (with H buffer) during a 2 day class in March with no issues. I'm not sure that it mattered a whole lot but, when I first got the BCM I put 500 rounds of 5.56 mm through it to break it in.

I've run it through 16" & 20" Colts, 16" S&W, 14.5 pinned Bushy & 14" TC with zero issues. It does what .223 ball ammo should.

same here.

Accuracy about 4-5moa.

1.5moa with handloads.

Wish I could get my hands on Fed 223 100ct bulk boxes. Nice accuracy, 2-2.5moa and I don't care about the brass for reloading lol

I have an EAG BCM upper with a pinned Battlecomp and it was a bit finicky with ammo for around the first 500 rounds or so; but since will run fine with anything to include PMC or dare I say even steel cased.

I currently have an H buffer installed.
