I am consdiering purchasing the semi-auto FN SLP shotgun. This will be for home defense and patrol use. I am considering the semi-auto because at times I tend to short stroke when shooting on the move when my elbows give me problems. I also want something my girlfriend could use and she has problems with a pump. What are your experiences with this shotgun? Thanks

Any particular reason you want a shot gun over a carbine?

I have one, but will probably get something different for the carbine, but I want a shotgun also.

I ran one (Winchester SX2 Practical, essentially the same thing as SLP) in 3 gun, and liked it a lot.

Function was flawless, with a wide variety of rounds. Much better than the Remmy's (had an 1187P).

It did have a plastic part that I was unsure of the reliability of, that had something to do with the gas piston. Never had a problem.

IMO, it was too long for social work. Not sure how the SLP compares to the
SX2 as to length of barrel, stock, etc.

I now use a Benelli M2 Tactical and like it it a lot, better than the SX2.
