not a fan of heavy triggers, but the AI 2 stage is TITS! 2nd stage is 1.2 pounds

also, CHRIST! is it heavy, the 26" MTU profile is way overkill dam thing needs wheels....

sold 2 guns to buy it...

i prefer the thumbhole but i'm glad they came out with the pistol grip so more people could enjoy their rifles. AI's really are a amazing weapons i have 2 you should love it. They are actually stopping production this year of the AI with something new supposedly coming at shot show, i guess we'll have to wait and see.

Congrats!!! You'll love this rifle. Been lusting after a 6.5 CM MK3 myself. My buddy owns the company that makes Viperskins, but I just keep mine stock (I own a .308 AW). They are heavy, but you'll get used to it and you'll fall in love with that buttery smooth action and the reliability too.

Just a great rifle! I heard AI was dropping the AE rifles too for 2014 and coming out with a new replacement. Should be interesting...

Do you have comparative photos of the two stocks. Thumbhole vs pistol grip.

Really nice gun.

For the 123Amax, you'll want to give varget a try.

in my r700, varget and 123 hated each other... not 1 load worked...

and all were slower than h4350

i tested the 39.3 varget 123 load then normaly shoots well for all, it was just under 1moa in the AI, not great, not horrible, but dog slow as well

I am just getting into the precision rifle game and have been looking at the AICS 2.0 or 1.5 for my Remington 700 Tac., are they stopping production of the chassis system as well? I sure hope not, I have been heavily leaning toward these as replacements for the OEM Stock.

For years I wanted an AI, but then DTA came into the picture and changed my world... Congrats on the purchase!

This news saddened me and almost made me regret getting rid of my MKIII, but it did help fund my AX. I'm anxious to see what AI has up their sleeve. I'm guessing PSR butt upgrades to the AX and AX chassis on the AE rifle. But that's just a wild guess.

21 pounds of confidence inspired by competence.

I just have a Rem700 ACC in a 2.0 stock, but my favorite rifle is a 40X 22lr CMP action in a 1.5. Oh so fun to shoot.

Where do you guys find the standard skins uncomfortable? The the place I have a bit of an issue is with the meat in the web of my hand just inboard of my thumb. Stock swell is a little much there.

I'm sure the AXs are great rifles, but I'm about railed out. I don't need to clip all kinds of lasers and NGV to my rifles. I like the competence and utility of these rifles. I hope the new ones keep that on in the new models.

37.0 grains of Varget with a 142gr SMK.

No issues ringing a 8in gong at 1000.

I just use Varget cause it's what I had on hand. This 260 is awesomely fun because it pisses off the 308 guys at the local 1000 yard range and their "tactical" events. Of the 3 I shot this year, I won 2 and took 2nd in the last one behind a guy with a 243 Win pushing 105gr AMAX at 3000fps.....

Eh don't worry about the weight.

Also, Varget sucks for 260. Its too slow. Try H4350 and H4831SC (if you have a longer barrel especially). I get the good speed/accuracy with 43.5 gr of H4350 with 140 Berger Hybrids in my AX. Careful on AIs with fast powders and hotter cartridge like 260, you can easily pierce primers.

ya, dealing with that now... trying to find a smith to bushing the FP hole...
i have 16pounds of h4350, 1000 123amax, and 600 140's...

123 load is done, working on the 140 now, 43 even is good, seeing if i can tweek any more out of it... but need to get the primer issue fixed 1st

On mine, I switched to a harder primer and shortened my OAL just a little and kept my charge the same and the piercing went away. Usually Berger Hybrids or 142 Sierras don't mind a jump. Careful not to go too short because that can spike pressure too. I'd avoid Federal match primers and switch to CCI benchrest or CCI #34 NATO primers. In the end, I didn't have to bush mine.
