Well, the last of my parts came in last Thursday and I called a friend of mine on Friday and was able to get my first AR together. Sorry for the terrible pic, it was off my phone. My wife and I put a few rounds through it Saturday just to test fire it and get it on paper at 25 yards. I gave her a quick run down on all the basic functions and how to operate and she shot it a few times, flipped to safe, dropped the mag, and cleared the chamber, handed it back to me and said, "that's pretty nice." I was a little surprised at her level of comfort with it and had to chuckle.

Well, my new KAC rear BUIS came and I had a chance to put it on and re-zero the rifle last night. My wife was hunting, so I had our 14mo so I didnt get to shoot much. Keep in mind, I fired my first 6 rounds to get my A2 rear sight semi-zeroed last weekend, but that was my first and only time with an AR of any kind. I took the A2 handle off and I put the rear sight on, twisted the barrel to "Z" to zero it, and stepped back to 25 m (about 27.5 yds). I squeezed off 3 rounds and those are the 3 printed at about 3 o'clock off the bull. I think I moved the rear about 3 clicks and fired one, saw that it was just high and a little bit right, so I moved it back 1 click and walked back to 50 yds. I turned the barrel on the KAC to "2" (once zeroed at 25 m the 200 m setting should be very close at 50 yds) and proceeded to put 2 shots downrange. Those 2 shots are the 2 lower holes at about 6 o'clock off the bull.

By this time the boy was getting a little restless, so I decided to not push my luck, so I moved my front sight 1 click up to try and get my group a little closer to the center next time I get to shoot. Ultimately I am looking to have the 50yd/200m (50yd/220yd-ish) zero for this rifle, so when I become a bit more proficient with the irons I will move out to 200 m and check my zero. I will have to wait a bit to get an optic, so I will likely be getting familiar with these irons for the remainder of the fall and winter, hopefully try them out on a coyote or two. I think when I get the money to buy an optic I have decided to get a Primary Arms MD06 with an AR mount to give me lower 1/3 cowitness.

BTW, thought I might point out, I did put some Magpul XTM Ehanced rail covers on for both comfort and appearance/protection. Also, I got some PMAGS in this week and I will say, throwing one of those babies in really makes this rifle sexy!

What kind of part list do you have on it?

HAHA, nothing impressive trust me. This was my first build and a learning experience. I have already been told on here that it was basically just shy of junk. Put for now it gives me something to plink and kill critters with.

Well, you can only improve from there and the dead critters can't tell a tier one rifle from shinola...;)
