Ok I am wanting to repurpose my Ares Armor Tactical Hip Bag. I picked it up last year before heading to Afghanistan to use as a med bag. I ended up using it as my FOB bag. I am planning on setting it up as a tertiary vehicle med bag for use in my patrol car (LE) It's not meant to be a full blown vehicle med bag as for general patrol car use that isn't practical. It will be one of a few med bag/pouches I keep in different locations in my unit in case I'm ever in a situation where I have to use my car as cover during a sustained gun fight (ie: ambush/ barricaded suspect while on perimeter waiting on swat activation)

I am not exactly married to using it as a med bag so what I am asking for/ intending to start is a Tactical Hip Bag picture/setup/review thread. This is in hopes to help give others ideas on setups and to encourage thinking outside the box in terms of bag use. I hope for this to be a thread that members can reference for different ideas to put an un-used piece of gear to work instead of a single use specific setup type of gear thread. I don't like having this bag sitting in my "Not being used" gear bag.

I'll start with the pics. Sorry they're IPhone pics but I'm not a professional photographer with an expensive camera.

Rear of bag with trauma shears inside. Plan on keeping chest seals in this pocket.

Front on bag. Keep a SOF-T in the elastic on the waist strap.

Zippered pockets opened up. That's Two H-bandages in the main pocket. There's still room to either side of them.

Close up. The two pockets there each can hold two compressed H&H gauze packets or TK4's or a combo of the two. On either side are elastic loops that will hold a sharpie and possibly a 14ga cath. There's also that Velcro pocket that'll hold nitrile gloves.

The smaller front zippered pocket will hold NPA's and possibly the decomp needles.

This is obviously not completed but it's a rough idea of how it'll be setup. I would like to see how others use their THB's before I completely convert this to a med bag. Show off how you roll whether it be setup for CCW, a tool bag, medical, whatever. LE/MIL/Civvy. The only threads I found on these were a few years old and more specific than what I am asking. Lets see 'em.

Yea I know those are the more popular option but I liked the size and layout of this one.

I'm curious, what size gun can you fit into the main compartment?

I just test fitted my M&P .40 full size and it fit no problem. Probably be better with something like a G19/23 with a vanguard.
