I have a Remington 700P LTR .308 that I am planning on putting a Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 on but I'm not sure what height rings to go with. The rail is a 20 MOA Nightforce and the rings are Leupold. Low, med or high? Thanks.

I had to use high's with my Rem 700 SPS Tactical, and Viper 3.5-10x50. I used a Leupold 2 piece base, and Leupold Rings.

Most people want the lowest rings that give the objective lens (big end) enough clearance for lens caps.

Also, not all ring manufactures use the same measurement methods. One's low might be another's medium, and so forth. You really must go by the actual measurements and measurement method, and not the descriptive name.

I have a PST 4-16x50 which I believe is the exact same size as your 6-24x50. You can verify the dimensions of both on the Vortex web site.

On R700's, I am using Badger Ordnance 30mm Standard (0.823") Scope Rings, Part Number 306-08, and the objective clears the barrel with minimum but adequate excess even with Butler Creek lens caps installed.

ETA: Here is a sticky from Sniper's Hide that discusses ring height:http://forum.snipershide.com/snipers-hide-rifle-scopes/30721-ring-height-info-how-measure-correctly.html

Using rail style mounts on a Remington 40X with heavy 308 barrel mounting a 42 mm Leupold, I used either short or medium Leupold rings and the scope objective barely cleared the barrel. For the 50 mm objective, you'll likely need medium or tall

Go as low as you can go. Take the scope into bass pro and eye it out.
