View Full Version : Colt upper not functioning with other lowers
I had a nice Colt upper that I sold to a guy. He tells me it won't go into
battery without using the FA. I know this upper worked fine
on two different Colt lowers. He says the lowers in question are
polymer,he didn't give me the name. I am only familiar with
Colt stuff,any thoughts? Thanks Pete
Tell him it's is a mil spec upper made to mate to a mil spec lower, anything else and he is on his own.

Thanks for the help,I'm in CA and there are more POS lowers
out here then you can shake a stick at! I should have put a
disclaimer in when I placed the ad! This was a 14.5" with
a Battle comp muzzle brake permanently fixed to 16"+
All complete. Pete
I've had 4 different uppers on 1 lower...all functioned fine
He either has:
1. An out of spec lower
2. He changed his mind about the purchase and wants something else so he needs his money back
I would honestly say its the 2nd option.
It's all good,I offered to give him his money back and he said,
he would work it out even if he had to get another lower!you
Are my witnesses :). Pete

No one seems to be mentioning it, but my understanding is polymer lower is not GTG.

There are several unrelated polymer lowers ranging from OK to total junk. The Cavalry Arms MKII lowers were OK, and I have not heard of any function issues with them nor had any with mine. The MKII was good enough that Sabre Defence (respected at one time, before their bankruptcy) offered rifles built on them. There are several newer polymer lowers, generally not with integrated furniture like the Cav has, that don't seem to get good reviews. Bushmaster also made a Carbon-15 lower that I think was intended to be used only with their Carbon-15 uppers and might not be compatible with other uppers.
