That's cool Olav, Tell us about it.
Well lets see...
I put an Armalite lpk in the Noveske lower along with a Timney 4lb skeletonized fire control group. Having done that I attached a Mapgul trigger guard to open up the area.
For a grip I slapped on the ever popular Hogue grip but I have something else in mind and will put it on when it arrives in the mail.
I decided to go with a LR300 NXL upper with YHM folding BUIS. I'll get some glass a little later on. I'm also running a Y Comp for three gun matches and stuff.
I put on a skeletonize buttstock and a uno point sling both from ZM Weapons.
I think it turned out pretty well and pretty happy with it.

Nice rifle. Where is the buffer spring?
its a ZM from YHM. they dont have buffers. They are a piston gun with a very Daewoo-like half-carrier system. The spring would be captured on the op rod....IIRC.

FYI, It's not gas piston, it's regular old DI.
The bolt carrier is the same in principal but a lot lighter while still retaining the the forward assist gills.
;)

The spring sits on top of the barrel over the gas tube...

Interesting design, Olav thanks for the pics.

No problem, I'll post a few more to show the details.
Im sorry, i guess i was mistaken......
if not a piston design, then what is the benefit? different for the sake of being different?

I guess for one thing, you can have it in folding stock.
Side note: any guess as to why the ZM weapons never really caught on?

Lighter
Cleaner operation
Folding butt stock
less recoil
compact design
less parts
a damaged/bent butt stalk doesn't render the weapon nonoperational.

Not much Marketing behind them.
i handled these at SHOT.
they didn't feel lighter. They definitely weren't more compact (maybe they would be if folded, but you don't have a folder), especially with the taller upper receiver..
haven't heard too many issues with bent or damaged stocks.
Less parts might be true...but harder to find specialty parts.
whatever the case, neat rifle, thanks for showing us.
Take some pics of the gas system/bolt out of the weapon please. thanks

They are lighter, I don't know the config you held was. With the telescopic/folder that comes with the LR is about 7.4 but you can go down from there.
I don't have a folder because of silly laws. That's the compact part of the equation.
Taller upper receiver by about 2mm nothing unusual.
Just saying, bend your return spring tube and the weapon won't work.
Just order parts from the manufacturer like any other product. Same argument for the Bushmaster ACR I guess or any non-issued weapon
Sounds like your jealous ;)
Yah, I'll post some photos asp.
Do they make it in a shorter config? Looks like a neat system for an AR pistol...

That's what the LR300 evolved from.
Originally, Alan Zitta, created a AR pistol called the "Master Blaster" for competion...
Here is the LR300 Bolt Carrier Group (BCG) and the extended bolt key tube, the return spring and the 1/2 moon clip. Basically, all the new parts:

Close up of the BCG. Note Bolt Carrier is about 1/2 the size of standard Bolt Carrier

Close up of gas tube. Notice it is half the length or so of a standard gas tube.

This shows the spring over the extended key tube which in turn fits over the gas tube shown on top in the upper.

That's it!
This system keeps the rifle's receiver and BCG a lot cleaner and runs a lot cooler as a result.
