I had the extended birdcage pinned/welded. This is a lt weight barrel configuration, rifle weight is 6 lbs 10 oz,MT.Went out today and
shot about 150 rds 55 grain PMC. At 25 yds zeroed one click right
and two down on the FS had me centered. Off a bench shooting
steel at 200 and 300 yds it was "without challenge" as the Russian
said:D. Tried shooting off hand and here is the problem:confused:
Too light in the front, geez my SIG 556 weighs over 2lbs more but
I can hit pretty good offhand @200 and the Sig has HALF the
accuracy of the Colt off a bench( with all else equal). More
experimentation --will get a Socom hvy upper 14.5 and try it out!
I don't reload so I am only using 55 grain pills,can't use 62
because ANY bullet that clings to a magnet where I shoot in
SOCAL is not allowed due to fire danger. For those of you that
Do Not believe this:rolleyes: subject for a whole seperate thread!

Looks like a M4 contour barrel, not LW...

Not going to speak to the profile of the barrel. But have known others who have found that guns can be too light to shoot well. Know a guy who had a gun set up for three gun that was around 7 pounds loaded out, I believe his current set up is around ten pounds. All that said, I am sure we can find ways to weight that Colt of yours down a little bit, a rail, light, and optic. Also, for shaving a little more weight off it, I would grab a DD A1.5 rear, which would make putting an Aimpoint on it easier too.

Also, will say this, and I am not a 14.5 rifle guy, but that is a good looking rifle.
