I have an AR Carbine with Magpul hand guards I would like to put a light on it. I do not know which one or set up to use.

Please provide me with info and pics of yours if you can.

Thank You

You know there is a sticky thread in the exact sub-forum that you posted this in?

https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=22625

And it's called "Weaponlight mount pic thread?". I'm just doing you a favor, before JSantoro points it out to you. ;)

I second this. Have the G2X tactical and that mount on one of my personal ARs. Not sure I would call it entry level since I plan on using it on the rifle I keep with the MOE handguards for at least the foreseeable future. Figure the G2X tactical is 320 lumens and pretty rugged I don't think you can go wrong with it.

Surefire G2 is great little, excellent budget light. Big bang for $$.Fixed it! What I was meaning was good light for first purchase, then comes the $200 lights.

I was running TLR-1 lights on all my carbines, but once I discovered the Inforce WML weapon light I never looked back. Single cell light that only weighs 3oz and is 125 lumens. More than enough for close to moderate distances. I love the sealed and slanted momentary switch and lock out bar, and lock out by turning the bezel. Avoid the one with multiple modes though, it's not worth the trouble. So far it has held up to multiple carbine classes and everything else I've thrown at it. All that for $100 can't be beat!

Also, I just found if you go directly to the HSP sight, it looks like its been upgraded to 200 lumens.

I would go with either the IWC MOE w/G2x or HSP WML on one of the various magpul bolt on rail pieces. There is a nice cantilevered rail section in the MOE illumination kit. I picked up the WML a few weeks ago and the ergonomics of it are great. The G2x is also a great light but I like how I can quickly attach and detach the WML

I see HSP added a coyote/FDE colored WML to the line

I would go with an IWC mount and a Surefire fury. The fury has excellent spill.

TLR1s for sure - my review: http://vdmsr.blogspot.com/2013/11/streamlight-tlr-1s-led-rail-mounted.html

Buy a MOE Scout mount on your magpul furniture and slap on the tlr1s, good to go.

FWIW - magpul cantilever mount ($8 ) with in force WML. Ergonomics seems good to me.

I've also been using TLR-1s, but mounted on a Mossie Midnight Mount. It positions the light at 12 o'clock, and preserves some hand guard space - both of which I like. YMMV.

I had the same setup.

Works well other then when you are shooting at night with a non-suppressed gun. The smokes makes it nearly impossible to see, unless you are moving.

I've been a big fan of the EAG model Surefire's. I've been running the 500 lumen one at work. Works well and lights up the houses we do warrants on very well. I'm in the process of switching rails and will switch to a X300 Ultra with a Exo mount. If you're looking to save money, the G2X is a great light. I've also seen a lot of guys running the TLR-1 HL, I just prefer Surefire lights so I've never tried one.

I like that.

I had the best luck with a surefire scout on the moe scout mount on my moe handguards.

The IWC mount with the 1" ring coupled with a surefire handheld would achieve the same thing, be tucked in a little further, and cost less.

This is exactly what I had before selling the rifle it was mounted on.

It really doesn't get any better and it made me an IWC (mount n slot) customer for life.

Thanks. The only real negative I have found so far is the barrel shaped shadow it throws off to the right. Seems like there is still more than enough light to be effective in any case. A higher mount would solve the problem, but obviously would not be as tight to the fore grip.

I went with the MOE scout mount for my surefire mini scout and love the setup. Gets the light out past the FSP, and my thumb rests right on the mounts ramp when gripping the rifle. Here's a picture of it setup for a lefty, it's from Magpul's site (I don't have a picture of mine):

Elzetta makes great lights, exceptionally durable. I'd recommend the Bravo or Charlie models with high output heads. 650 and 900 lumens respectively.
