came across someone who bought up a powder stash of AA2230 and H335. which would be the better choice for heavy 556 type loads. I Know 2230 is temp sensitive but figured it would be acceptable for short range lighter bullet weight , of the 2 which would be better

For heavy bullets I would choose the 335. I describe heavy as over 69 grains. Others may have a different weight. I use a lot of AA2230. If you are shooting 60 grains and less I think it's perfect out of a barrel 16" and over. JMHO kwg

No experience with 2230.

Lots of experience with H335. IMO H335 is NOT a good powder for the heavy stuff. Varget, TAC, R15, and 8208 XBR are WAY better choices for heavies(75g, 77g) than H335. Will it push the bullets out, yes, is it ideal, no.

But if you can get a bunch of H335, I can GUARANTEE you can trade it or sell it for some Varget or 8208.

H335 is IDEAL for 55g FMJ's IMO and is all I use for them.

I've used a lot of 2230 with 55gr and 62gr bullets and I like it a lot. It works with the stash of Wolf SRMs I have which are know to be problematic with 335. Using loads at or slightly below max in temperatures from 20 to 85 degrees F and I haven't seen and pressure issues.

yea I bought 8 lbs of 2230 to use with lighter weight bullet's (55-62) but had noticed that there was info for them both with heavier weights(77) although not at the top of the recommended, i'm almost out of tac and the last time I saw 8208 available it was gone by the time I got to the bank and put money on my debit, as far as trading everyone I know that shoots an AR is in full on horde mode thanks for the info every bit helps

2230 and H335 are almost exactly the same in usage. They are both medium fast ball powders. They appear very close together on the burn charts I've seen. Their charge weights are pretty much the same also.

They will work for heavier bullets, but probably are not optimum. I've used both, like both, used both mostly for 55 gr bullets.
