Is the 50 bmg used for hunting in Africa at all? If not why?
A lot of these third world countries make it illegal to possess any weapon chambered in a military caliber.

I thought that was a mostly European thing.
Sent from my clutch hand while riding a wheelie....
Are there any rifles chambered for BMG that can be easily carried?

I had thought so, but head to Central America, Mexico, and South America abd you see that limitation frequently.

Are you talking packing it to the hunting area, or stalking with it ready to go? I have a M99 and with scope and all it is pushing 30lbs. I use a drag bag with shoulder straps to carry it like a backpack to the hunting area. If you get much lighter than that for mobility, you start taking more recoil. As far as I know, there are lighter rifles but none I would want to pack very far.
Found this http://www.anzioironworks.com/light_50.htm , but it looks like you have to use their ammo to keep from getting beat to death.
