The M70 O-PAP is flying off the shelves these days due to the known quality of Zastava rifles, the cost, and because Century seems to be importing them by the boatload. Here's what I've found with mine:

Pros:
-100% reliable
-Fit and finish are excellent for the price point it comes to market at
-Cost. It's around $600 most places and some have it even lower
-Cold hammer forged barrel
-Everything (safety, top cover, gas tube, ect...) is tight.
-Accepts all standard size com-bloc mags with no more wobble than is normally found on '47 variants
-Imported with correct double stack bolt
-Utilizes the bulged, RPK style, front trunnion
-Comes with 2 steel surplus mags
-I was able to get consistent 3-3.5'' groups with it with a variety of commie steel jacketed ammo
-The grip isn't the best but it's certainly better than the standard 'peg' grip; at least to me
-The prevalence of these Yugo/Serbian rifles in this country has led a lot of accessory companies to make parts for them as well as standard AKM variants.

Cons:
-It weighs just over 8 lbs unloaded
-Barrel is not chrome lined
-Many parts (stock, optics rail, handguards, ect....) are non-standard for AKM pattern accessories)
-Some folks report 'cheek slap' from the stock. I discuss/demonstrate how to avoid that in the video below however

All in all it's an excellent rifle for the money. Build quality is on par with the higher end AKs yet it's priced on the lower end of the spectrum. Function is great and with a little cleaning up of the wood it would look pretty good to boot.

Here's a video with a bunch of shooting (day/night), a discussion of some of the unique features of the rifle, an accuracy test, and an what I think of it overall:

I'll be the first to say excellent video review!

I bought an O-PAP when they first came out. Unfortunately, it came with a single stack bolt and had major feeding problems. I sent it back to Century and they repaired it, but it still won't run Hungarian 20rd mags for some reason. I'm thinking about getting a new one and selling off the one with the single stack bolt. Where did you purchase your O-PAP?

I have more recently purchased an N-PAP (has a double stacked bolt). It's pretty much the same rifle, but the front trunnion is not the bulged RPK type and the receiver is not as think. As a result, the back half of the rifle doesn't weigh as much as the O-PAP's back half.

Mine came from the local FFL via CAI. They just ordered it direct for me.

Very nice review. I suppose these come in with 10 round receivers and are opened up?

BTW - while I no longer have it, my old CAI Yugo with (lousy) green mountain barrel would do 1.5" 10 shot groups at 50 yards.

So you mean to say aftermarket stocks and handguards/rails will not fit on these?

I'm looking for another AKM and this one caught my eye. I don't like wood accesories much, unless the whole rifle is wood (Mosin, SKS).

Its not a deal breaker, but I would probably refinish the factory wood on these if I bought one.

Thanks for the review!

When they first started importing the O-PAP's, they came in with single stack front trunnions, receivers and bolts. The ones they are importing now have the regular front trunnions, receivers and bolts.

That's actually decent for an AK.

I just bought an O Pap from Aim after seeing it on your facebook page, Mr. GG. Should come in next week. They're at a good price and I'm really looking forward to it after watching this video.

Not all aftermarket stocks/handguards will but standard "AKM" pattern ones won't. As I said in the video with the prevalence of Yugo pattern rifles coming in the country lots of aftermarket companies are making options for these rifles now.

Just put one aside at my LGS. Seems decent for $700! Comes with 2 mags as well. Double stack standard 30 rounds.

Edit. I got the n-pap not o
