I was looking for online-info about the new AK-12 when I saw this photo.
Now I'd like to know if someone have already come out with a 7.62x39 caliber bullpup design?

I believe the Russians and Finns have some that they've built over the years, and possibly also the Chinese… but most of the options are going to basically be AKs in fugly conversion stocks. With all the drawbacks that it sounds like it would have from having a cheap, crappy stock and an AK receiver behind the firing hand. Oh, and lefties need not apply.

The Valmet M82 is probably the better option of those available, but only about 2,000 of them were made and the vast majority of those that were imported were imported in 5.56mm NATO. Like all Valmet rifles, they're pretty darn expensive at the best of times.

Who makes the bullpup in the photo? Looks lefty friendly to me.

I would guess that's made by Kalashnikov/Izhevsk/Izhmash.

Steyr has just released a .300BLK barrel for the AUG/A3. This does two things. It gives AUG owners a larger caliber option and will hopefully, get IWI thinking about a .300BLK conversion for the Tavor. If the Germans can do it, then they certainly can too! IWI is trying hard to release 5.45x39 and 9x19 conversion for the Tavor. Not sure what the hold up is. I've heard magazines.

The way I see it, with the 5.45 and the 9mm. Playing with the 7.62x39 is a waste of time. The .300BLK is more efficient and the 5.45 is inexpensive to shoot. Both are selling points of the 7.62x39. More options! Get a Tavor and wait it out. You'll have more options with the Tavor. Buy a backup AR15. The best one you can get.

Germans?

Steyr is Austrian.

Collaborators, same thing!

I know their Austrian! Too funny!

Surely, you don't mean, "I know they're Austrian"?

Those pop up on the auction sites every now and then. In the $2000 price range.

There is also the crappy KVAR/CAI "AKU-94" bullpup conversion kit for AK type rifles.

Don't forget the bullpup SKS. I've handled one, and its not bad at all.

There is the Shernic Gun works sks which imho is the best one for the sks. I had a Chinese sks paratrooper without a stock and bought the kit. Very well balanced, nice trigger and fun to shoot. Not a lightweight by any stretch however. My 9 year old daughter likes it too.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/snekrz/IMG_20130511_224601_741_zpse49ba92f.jpg

Why do you want a bullpup? In 7.62x39 you are mostly looking at AK variants and while few AK bullpups have been made, the design has never been very successful.

If the goal is to have a compact weapon in x39 I'd look at AK side folders. The AK works very well with a folding stock and unlike 556 the x39 does not suffer that much from a short barrel so you can have an serious SBR with 10" barrel in a size that fits easily into a normal backpack. Sig SG 553R is a great example of this type of a rifle but there are other similar designs too.

Steyr has just released a .300BLK barrel for the AUG/A3.

Can you give more details on this? There is no information about this anywhere else and I had not heard about this from Pete Athens.

I got an email from Pete a week ago. My AUG/A3 was sold in April to finance my Tavor purchase. I like the Tavor much more than the Steyr. I believe there were only 85 barrels in .300BLK available. Better hurry!

I've never handled these, just saw some pics which looked quite clean.
