I've had my AUG for a few months now and am really satisfied with it. I have yet to pick up a sling for it. From past experience I like and am leaning toward the VTAC padded sling and the Vicker's CAS sling, but I've always used these on ARs.

Those of you who run the AUG I'd like to see and hear about your sling set and any trial and errors you have had. If you have a light set up I'd like to hear about that too.

I used a Magpul MS3 sling on my rifle with a rear sling QD adapter pin from MSAR. Swapped out the front sling mount for a Magpul RSA. Worked great. Now, I would use the MS4 and QD adapters. They have what you need. I still have the rear QD pin. It works great in the AUG. PM me if you are interested in it.

If I still used the AUG platform, I would also go with the MSAR E4 stock (it's a drop in) and use the new Gen 3 PMAGs for mag compatibility with my ARs.

I has a Steyr AUG up until a couple months ago... When I had it, I used an Urban ERT sling, but not his standard setup.

I had his sling years ago, when I had an MSAR AUG. Back then, many people discovered that using the front sling mount would get the sling caught up in the charging handle pretty easily. So, some of us would attach the forward mounting point to the side rail - and run the sling up under the gun - in between the trigger guard and the forward grip.

Now, the Steyr AUG doesn't have as long of a side rail as the MSAR AUG did. So, if I were to use that side rail, I would have to mount the sling further back. Also, with my Gearhead aftermarket charging handle, I tend to lay the gun down on a flat surface on the side with the rail. I didn't really wanna put the attachment point there.

So, I used a quick detach GG&G mount - with the rail portion on the optic rail. I rarely keep the sling on the gun. But when I do, this setup works great. It may seem complicated, but when the gun is hanging on you by the sling, it worked very well.

I had Urban ERT make me an 8" piece to attach to the sling. That gives me more than enough length to run it down and around the gun. I probably could have gone with 6", but I had ordered a 5" piece years ago on the MSAR, and it just barely worked. This time, I decided to give it a little more length.
