Just picked up one of these for 163.00 Dollars. I know I got a good deal, but I was wondering about the battery life. Any input is greatly appreciated.

The first thing that pops to mind at that price is that it's a counterfeit. Do you mind saying where you got it?

And I thought the 50% off eotechs I get from working at gander mountain was good. Damn good deal there.

I had a 551 that I liked a lot. Battery life was designed by the same people who design gas tanks for drag cars, but you do get plenty of warning when the power is running down as the reticle begins to flash after you turn it on.

The upside is that - well, this is my theory at least - the lower mass of the Ncells decreases the pistoning effect that some people had with the other eotechs, which lead to the redesign with the transverse batteries. I never had an issue with my N-cell model and as long as you're prepared to stay on top of the battery issue I think they're actually pretty good. For $163 I think it's awesome.

I have had no problems with my 511. The only complaint I have is battery life, it's pretty short. I also find it obnoxious the sight continues to drain the batteries after you turn it off. But the sight has been rock-solid for me and unlike my AA powered Eotech has never failed me.
