Picked up an AK and looking for a decent quality, well built chest rig that won't break the bank. I'm not looking to spend the money on a US Palm, Eagle, BDS, etc, and have read good things about the Strike Hard Gear AK-47 chest ring. I would appreciate any feedback or opinions from those in the know. Thanks!

What is your budget?

My primary carbine is an AR, so I'm not looking at spending a lot on AK gear. Looking to stay under $100 for a carrier.

I thought about trying some of the things at miwo-military in Poland. After you convert their currency, the prices aren't bad. Shipping can get expensive depending on what you order though. They do have some unique items like Molle 75 round drum pouches. If I keep this RPK, I'll probably follow through and buy some things. Anyways, here's a link: http://www.miwomilitary.pl/?p=0 You may have to select the English flag.

Here's one option: http://762tactical.com/chest-rigs/ak-carbine-rig.html

A couple of things that I think this rig does better than the Specter:

1) The retainer tabs are split to fit over the corner of an AK mag, and won't slip off. You would have to keep the cord on the tab pretty tight to keep it from slipping off the bottom.
2) Slightly looser pouches with adjustable cords on the outside to give you the tension you prefer.
3) Padded harness with D rings
4) More color options
5) molle or hydration harness options
6) Willing to customize (He made the mag pouches a little wider for me, so Saiga-12 mags will fit, no extra charge.)

Cons:
1) A few bucks more.
2) Less molle webbing, if you want to add other pouches. (Personally, I think anything on top of the mag pouches would stick out too far.)
3) Wait is a few weeks, more if you ask for anything custom.

I haven't had much of a chance to beat mine up yet, so I can't speak to durability. For $50, 7.62 also has a "Chicom chest rig", only three mag pouches, flaps instead of tabs, and for $100 they have the Operator rig, rifle pouches will hold two mags, and four pistol mag pouches on the center rifle pouches.
