So we decided our PS90 needed a big brother.

Have an OD Aug A3 with a 1/7 twist barrel coming in.

Unfortunately, won't be able to pick it up til Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Congrats. I owned one earlier this year. Great gun. I decided I wanted a SCAR after all, so, I sold it.

See you are getting one with the new 1/7 barrel. Hope you enjoy it.

Make sure to post up a pic with your optic installed!

Luckily we have both a SCAR 16 & 17 ;)

I'm not really sure what is supposed to be discussed here.

There is no "like" button on M4C.

Picked it up today from my dealer.
Really like the OD color compared to the black. Now the wife was thinking that she didn't like the OD from various pics that she has seen and had decided that she wanted a black AUG. Talked her into the OD as it similar to her OD PS90.

Now that she has looked it over she likes the OD. So the next one we get will be a black one just to make it easier to tell them apart.

And a big shout out to Pete at PJA Investments. Ordered this from him and got a very nice rifle indeed. Also seems that its a nice low serial number 6USA00X. Went ahead with the PJA package for the extra mag, case, cleaning kit and the muzzle cap. Also ordered one of his rear sling pins with the Vltor QD. Will be putting a padded VCAS on this as its the wife's prefered sling.

Have stripped it down and cleaned it. Added my TA33 scope. Am waiting on a mount for my Aimpoint Comp ML.

The "7" on the barrel, is that what denotes a 1-7 twist?

It is.

The Steyr AUG has normally been made with a 1/9 twist barrel. Austria is not officially a member of NATO so the 1/7 twist was never a concern.

And Steyr made 200 1/7 barrels in the US. Or I should say that they had FN USA make them. 100 went to new rifles and the rest are up for individual purchase.

Thanks, I got mine a few months ago. It has become one of the best rifles I've ever owned.

Nice pictures. What mount are you running? I have the factory trijicon mount and I needed to reverse it to get away from the charging handle.

I also dig the green stock. I think I may need to pick one up in the future.

Does anyone know when the 20" barrels might come out? That's the thing I'm really looking for!

That is an American Defense B2 mount. I reversed it so the lock lever would be opposite of the charging handle.

And last that I heard was could be December all the way out to March on 20" barrels.
Seems that FN had some machinery down for several weeks which put a big delay on barrel production.

What kind of accuracy are you getting with the AUG? I've always liked the idea of getting one up until recently but I'm wondering if a Tavor wouldn't also fill that niche. The concept of the AUG definitely seems good but I would like to hear more about how people who have used a variety of rifles feel about its performance.

Better than a AK, not as good as an AR.

About on par with my HK93 around 2 MOA, although some people just can't get used to the linked trigger. The Tavor seems to have a better trigger (no personal experience) but for me the quick change barrel system of the AUG is the selling point.

Steyr,
Thanks for the reply, is this accuracy consistent out to 3-400 meters? This may not mean much but in my experience I haven't seen many chromoly barrels that are able to hold much better than 2 MOA when shot repeatedly in the same range session, despite being in a fairly accurate AR platform. I'm not expecting the rifle to be consistent 1 MOA from point blank to 1000+ but it sounds like a reasonably accurate rifle.
