New SCAR QD sling mounts by Parker Mountain Machine

I just got a beta set of PMM SCAR QD mounts.

Now let me say that I do not have any affiliation with Parker Mountain Machine other than having a beta set of these to test out.

These are designed to attach to the front and rear factory sling holes on the SCAR and give you full QD mounting capability.

So have these installed on my SCAR 17 and from informal dry-fire drills inside it works very well. Will be running this a bit harder this weekend in the field.
Have tried 2 different Blue Force VCAS slings. One that came with the QD swivels from BFG and the other that we added them later. Works well with both but my preference is with my padded version.

Simple attachment and seems very sturdy.
Also like how I can easily attach and remove a sling compared to my previous setup which used the top rear sling slot in the stock and a Universal Wire Loop in the front sling hole.
This setup worked ok but I was always unthreading the rear sling when breaking down the SCAR to clean so I didn’t have the buttstock hanging off the end of my sling. Seems the buttstock is always getting in my way if I leave it attached to the sling.
With this setup it’s a non issue.

I'm curious to hear how that works out for you. Is it made out of aluminum?

I have a beta set waiting in my PO BOX as well, I'll report with my experiences after I get them installed / tested.

Retrieved my Beta test set from my PO Box today and installed them this morning.

Overall design and concept is well thought out. Installation was easy and the units are low profile and smooth, preventing snagging on equipment / clothing.

These beta units are only painted and not anodized as production units are supposed to be. I received both front and rear with limited rotation QD features. While testing with a number of QDs, it was initially difficult to get the QDs into the slots, but with some gentle pressure and working them back and forth, the QDs seated nicely. Compared to my Promoted Pawn integral QD and VLTOR stock QD, there is less movement with the PPM QDs, either because they are tighter or the painting / coating caused them to be slightly tighter. The limited rotation works well.

My front unit installed to the SCAR sling kith very tightly with no movement. The rear unit has a tiny bit of play, even with the screws checked tight. I fiddled with it a bit and the pieces seem to be seated correctly and the screws are tight, so it might be another bit of tolerance stacking with the finish, or maybe the screws are a little too long, preventing them from pulling the pieces together against the rear SCAR sling loops.

Overall I like the units a lot and with some work on the tolerances / finishing they could be the solution a lot of people are looking for. I'll use these for awhile to see how they hold up / determine if any other tweaks should be made.

Estimated cost?
I'll let the designer / vendor speak to that, he tentative prices in some of our correspondence, but it's not my place to say (note that I, like the OP, have no connection to this product other than offering to test it out).

Also, he already responded with a fix for the slight wiggle in the rear beta unit I received - I think one of the screws is either too long or hole too short.

ETA - they are listed on the manufacturers website, along with availability and prices.

UPDATE

Ran my SCAR this weekend doing some casual shooting with some friends and running some drills and the PMM QD mounts worked well.
They actually worked better than my previous setup because of location of the rear mount and once I got home and started cleaning, well that was much easier using the QD and not having to unthread the rear sling.

After using this I will be putting a set on both our SCAR rifles.

Can I buy just the front sling socket?

Can I buy just the front sling socket?

I'm not sure, might be worth contacting the manufacturer / owner. I had the same thought as I have Promoted Pawn rails with QDs in the front, so I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who would only want one or the other set.

So far my beta set is working well as they are designed to do.

I received a production set from Jarod last week and got them installed.

Fit and finish on the production set is nicer than the beta set. Anodizing is nice and smooth. Installation was easy, taking only a couple of minutes to get the front and rear set on my SCAR 17. Both front and rear fit tight with zero movement.

The QDs are also improved, with much smoother fit with a variety of QDs that I've accumulated over the years, to include ones I've gotten from Blue Force Gear, Promoted Pawn, and several others I forget. All insert easily but are tight enough for a secure fit. Limited rotation has been improved to 6 postions and works as advertised.

As I just installed these, I haven't shot with them yet but I did drop the rifle, holding only the middle of the sling. Then I grabbe the sling with two hands and shook the rifle about 15 times with all the stress on the QD mounts. Hardly a stress test but afterwards the mounts were still snug, the limited rotations slots held firm, and anodizing showed no wear.

Updated photos.

Similar packaging as the beta set

Again, I have no affiliation to PMM and simply wanted to help test these mounts for a fellow forum member. I'll use them for a bit and update immediately if I have any issues.

Well they sure look the part, I think these could be in my future, very soon. RHINO, very curious as to what you say (BTW the old scar is going in for dipping soon)

I have the rear sling mount installed, and have used it for a few weeks now.

Initially, the mount was VERY tight with an MS4 sling installed. Jarod discovered this and preemptively emailed me to be advised. His (successful) intent was to manufacture a mount with tolerances that would minimize noise.

A little Froglube and repeated installations proved to loosen it to the point where it's easy to do.

I'm glad I made the purchase; the mount fills the need very well. Unlike the GG&G mount, the PMM can be easily & noninvasively installed with the supplied Allen wrench. Be sure to degrease first & use Loctite.

I recommend this product.

Yeah, QD mount size is a tough nut to crack - you want it to fit all QDs but you don't want it rattling like crazy.

And Jarod is very responsive to feedback when I gave some on the beta unit, so CS seems to be there as well.

That's funny I drew this exact thing out about 2 years ago, except my rear swivel socket set went the opposite way, but I never did anything with the design. Been waiting for this, I won't use the front socket but will use the rear. I just wish the dang FN sling loops that we bolt to weren't aluminum.

I guess I'll have to get this as soon as possible to try it out. Need four sets, but I'll start with one.

I didn't like the GGG version, but this is good.

Of course the best solution would be a complete replacement for that piece that would incorporate sockets (Or a keymod section) instead of sling loops. Might have to wait longer for that I guess.

I ordered two rear sets for my H and L. The H install went pretty smoothly, but neither mount would allow me to reinstall the stock on my L and would stop it about halfway up. I contacted PMM, and sent some photos of what I was running into, and Jarod sent me a replacement mount within days.

The new mount is a further iteration of the design that lightens the mount by removing some metal from behind the bottom of the screws. The screw channels aren't visible from the rear of the mount on the older design, but are visible on with newer design.

I took some crappy phone pics of the mounts so you can see the difference. My phone was more interested in the carpet, but you get the idea.

Earlier iteration on earlier vintage 17:

Later iteration on more recent manufacture 16: (focus is terrible, but the difference is pretty obvious)

The new mount fit the L as advertised.

One install note: It's a lot easier to press fit the mount into the sling loops, then slide the stock back on before attempting to screw it into place. This will verify that it allows the stock to go on and off (it will tighten the fit, but you should be able to get it back off without marring the stock), and the stock will hold it aligned for you to screw in the lugs on the other side of the sling loops, preferable muzzle up to ensure proper alignment.

This can get tricky without the stock if you're trying to hold the sling mount on with one hand, and with the other feel for the tiny screw channel with a tiny allen key manipulating a tiny screw with wet loctite on it.

The mounts lock up tight and provide a good alternative to using something like a HK hook or UWL. Haven't had a chance to run them on live fire yet, but will report back with any major data.
